Black Friday is the most popular retail holiday of the year. If you plan on shopping this season, this guide will show you where to go and how to get the best deals.

When is Black Friday 2019?

Black Friday officially begins the day after the Thanksgiving holiday, so this year it lands on November 29. However, the single most anticipated shopping event has become much more than a one-day sale. Many retailers are expected to release their Black Friday ads early in the week as an attempt to get a head start on the competition. Many sales will also continue on through the weekend and into Cyber Monday 2019, which by now, is going to be more like Cyber Week 2019. Therefore, the exact dates are still relevant but extended far beyond the morning after Thanksgiving.

No matter your interests, exploring the latest gadgets and technology is always exciting. From devices you’ve only heard about to stuff you’ve never seen before, these cool gadgets are sure to impress anyone.

Today’s Tech Deals

FireTV

An Echo smart speaker lets you control your Fire TV Stick with nothing but your voice, so it makes perfect sense that Amazon would offer a Dot + Stick bundle. For a limited time, you can get the streaming dongle plus a second generation (the old one) Echo Dot for $40, which is the regular price of the Fire TV Stick by itself.

Amazon’s kicking off the week with an Anker Gold Box, this time full of deals on the company’s popular car accessories. Inside, you’ll find several car chargers, including one with a built-in Bluetooth/FM transmitter, and another with Alexa support.

They aren’t specific to the car, but there’s never a bad time to save on Anker’s excellent charging cables. Grab a 6′ nylon-wrapped Lightning cable for $9, or a couple of USB-A to USB-C cables for $14.

With a 20 hour battery, the ability to connect to three different phones, IPX7 water resistance, and a USB port that can recharge your phone, it’s no wonder JBL’s Charge 3 is our readers’ favorite water-resistant Bluetooth speaker. Rarely seen under $100, you can grab it starting today for its Black Friday price of $90.

GoPro has been taking a beating on Wall Street, but its cameras are still best-in-class. We haven’t seen any Black Friday deals on the high-end HERO7 Black just yet, but the HERO7 Silver and HERO7 White are already on sale for $70 and $20 off, respectively. The Silver can capture 4K footage at 30 FPS (the Black bumps that up to 60), while the White maxes out at 1440p footage at 60 FPS. For more on the differences between the models to help you decide, check out Gizmodo’s coverage.

Imagine getting home after an 8-hour shift and you’ve been looking forward to your favorite time of the day. Post-work bathroom break in the comforts of your home. Just you, your phone, and the internet. Nothing is more annoying when you’re finally comfortable on your porcelain throne and the WiFi doesn’t quite reach your upstairs bathroom. First world problems? Maybe. With UltraBoost Wi-Fi, you can make sure your home is covered from corner to corner.

Photostick

Have you ever had your computer crash only to realize that you’ve lost some of your photos and videos? Or maybe you signed into your cloud backup only to find you’re missing precious photos and videos? That’s why this neat gadget called the Photostick is currently one of the top purchased products worldwide. But don’t just think about getting it for yourself, it makes the perfect gift for anyone who has a slight distrust for computers.

With new computer viruses emerging everyday and hackers gaining access to computers around the world, this is the perfect solution to making sure your photos & videos are protected… It’s the ONLY product of its kind that makes saving up to 60,000 photos and videos painless, and completely hassle free! It’s a small thumb drive that you plug into your Mac or PC. You just open the program and click ‘GO’ and it’ll automatically find all your photos and videos and back them up to the PhotoStick. That’s how simple it is.

KeySmart

You might be thinking that you already have a keychain. But it probably doesn’t compare to this new futuristic keychain. Here’s a fact everyone can agree upon: bulky keychains are both unsightly and cumbersome to handle. Not to mention, they won’t protect your pockets from getting shredded to bits by your expansive key collection.

8Bluetooth Headphones Are Great for Running!

Or hiking, working out, biking…or sitting at your desk and watching YouTube videos (no judgment here!). They offer superb sound quality and the battery lasts for up to 8 hours of continuous play. They charge super quickly and have an indicator light to let you know when they’re ready to go. My favorite detail is that they have buttons that allow you to skip, play, and pause tracks without having to grab your phone.

10Kickstarter Projects Worth Checking Out

Anker’s soda can-sized Capsule portable projector was a crowdfunding hit last year, and it really did deliver on its promise. But there were a few obvious areas for improvement, and Anker tackled all of the big ones with the brand new Capsule II, now up for preorder on Kickstarter.

Kickstarter backers can preorder the Capsule II right now for $399. Anker’s touting a $599 MSRP for the Capsule II, and while there will surely be discounts after it comes out, Anker’s previous crowdfunding projects have, in hindsight, legitimately offered prices to backers that weren’t matched on Amazon for many months after release, if ever.

If you ever bought a Capsule I prior to this Kickstarter going live, you’re also eligible for a $100 rebate when you preorder the Capsule II. Check out the bottom of the campaign page for details.

Rather than having to constantly batteries (and inevitably running out of them every time you really need them), why not just get some that you can recharge? These ones can be recharged up to 2,100 times and maintain 70 percent of their charge after 10 years! If you do choose to switch over to rechargeable batteries, I recommend grabbing a couple packs so you can always have one charging while the other is in use.

12GlowBowl – A Night Light Air Freshener For Your Toilet

GlowBowl is the world first and only toilet nightlight with built-in air freshener!

This dual purpose device makes nighttime bathroom navigation easy without waking yourself or others, and its built-in replaceable air freshener leads you to a great smelling oasis – zapping nasty bathroom odors and keeping your bathroom smelling fresh 24 hours, 7 days a week!

You can select from 13 vibrant LED colors or use the Color-Carousel mode, so you’ll not only hit your mark each and every time, but you’ll also enjoy your very own dazzling light show in the process!

13Dodow – Fall Asleep In 20 Minutes Or Less

This new gadget we’ve added to the list was just released in 2018 and is called Dodow. It’s completely disrupting the billion dollar sleeping pill industry in America. Instead of taking harmful and toxic pills to try and fall asleep (that often have you feeling groggy the next morning), millions of Americans are now turning to Dodow. Not only does it help you fall asleep in 20 minutes or less, but it also improves the actual quality of your sleep so that you wake up completely refreshed and ready to start the day!

14SleepNow Luxury Pillow – Sleep Like Royalty Every Single Night

We have all been there. Restlessly tossing and turning in bed, watching the hours on the clock tick by until dawn creeps up on us. I work Monday to Friday, and as soon as I get home, all of my energy goes to my kids. You may think that with all that movement throughout the day, I would be exhausted and ready to pass out like a log… but I guess my body has another agenda.

In this crazy, fast-paced world, we all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. Beyond the alarming risks of disease that come along with sleep deprivation, it can also affect your memory, concentration, mental health, and even your weight!

A good friend of mine introduced me to SleepNow when I was telling her about how I was struggling with sleep. I didn’t believe her when she told me that a pillow made all the difference from tossing and turning all night to sleeping like a baby! That’s when I was convinced that I had to give SleepNow a shot. I didn’t know that a pillow would make all the difference…

15Angry Mama – Put in water and vinegar, and then watch her steam your microwave clean

Mama knows best. This one uses steam to effectively clean microwave ovens without fuss. Simply remove the head, add vinegar and water, then heat for seven minutes. As steam comes out of mama’s head, dirt and stains are loosened for easier cleaning. When time’s up and Mama’s been allowed to cool, remove and use the remaining liquid to wipe down the microwave interior.

Neck pain is a common problem with few solutions. But thanks to The NeckRelax, that’s about to change. The NeckRelax brings the miracle of cervical traction to your home in the form of a simple, portable device you can use every day. NeckRelax helps release muscle tension in as little as 10 minutes a day and for less than the cost of a single physical therapy session. if you have frequent neck pain or know someone who does, you know it’s not an easy problem to get rid of. Medications simply dull the pain but do not eliminate it. And visits to your physical therapist are costly and time-consuming.

17BakBlade – The Easiest Hair Removal

When the temperatures rise, the last thing you want is to be burdened by extra body hair on your backside. Waxing is too costly (not to mention excruciating!) and asking a friend to shave for you is just too big of a favor.

Designed to be used on either wet or dry skin, this self-shaving system allows you to quickly, easily, and harmlessly shave your entire body with ease. Never contort yourself into an origami fold just to shave a patch of hair ever again!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Black Friday deals week?

It’s the week that includes Black Friday. Retailers are increasingly offering deals before and after Black Friday itself so they stand out from the crowd.

Are Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals real?

Yes. Although these days the retailers plan most of their bargains well in advance, there will some surprises. As with any sales you can expect a mix of genuine bargains, discounted end-of-line camera gear and mysterious items found in the back of a warehouse somewhere.

Where can I find the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for photographers?

You’re in the right place already! We scour all the top retailers’ Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, and we also tell you what we think of them. Whether you’re looking for a cheap camera or a premium prime lens, you’ll find all the best deals here. If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter yet, now’s the time to do it – just scroll back up this page and fill in your details, in the box in the right had column

How do I get the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals?

Our best advice? Know what you want, know what you can afford to spend and know the market. Beware of dealers selling at higher prices in October so that they can offer an amazing discount on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. And don’t pay any attention to the list prices or ‘recommended retail prices’ quoted by manufacturers and dealers – the real guide to a bargain is the price everybody else is charging, not what the maker says! But be flexible too. Your first choice of camera may not be on sale at a price you like but another you’d only half considered could be a brilliant deal. Don’t buy something you don’t want just because it’s a bargain, but do keep an open mind.

Shop on websites you trust.

Brands such as Amazon, Macy’s and Kohl’s are timeless with a track record of trustworthiness. If the website is something the average person has heard of before, it’s likely something you can trust. For Black Friday 2013, Statista reported that Amazon.com, Walmart.com and BestBuy.com were the top three most visited retail websites. In fact, Amazon’s website had 38.37 million visitors which accounted for more than 20% of total Black Friday online shopping traffic. A site this popular is one you can trust. Whenever possible, buy from vendors you trust on sites that you trust.  That does not mean you cannot try out a new site or store occasionally, but if you are given the option of shopping somewhere safe and familiar for the same prices, it is usually a good idea to take it.  It certainly makes life easier, and removes uncertainty from the equation.  When it comes time to shop somewhere new the tips that follow can help you to stay safe.

Avoid websites with poor or dodgy design

Sites that aren’t all that well put together or feature dubious design elements may pose multiple problems.  For one thing, if a site isn’t professionally designed, that might mean that the owner of the site isn’t a professional either (except maybe a professional scammer)
