Our verdict
Only for small spaces like wardrobes, shoe cupboards and cars, and not at $49 if you can find a similar bag for less. PureAir Max is a 200g linen bag of bamboo charcoal that can absorb some odours without fragrance or electricity. But it is sold as an "air purifier" that removes pollutants and allergens, which a passive bag with no fan cannot do for a room, and the "premium bamboo charcoal" add-on repeats what the label already says. PureAir Max scores 3.9 out of 10, held back by overstated claims and price.
The short version
- What it is: a 200g linen bag filled with bamboo charcoal, sold to absorb odours and moisture.
- Price: $49 for one on 6 October 2026, with a five-pack for $135 flagged as the best seller.
- Best trait: fragrance-free and passive, fine for small enclosed spaces.
- Biggest drawback: it is not an air purifier and does not remove allergens or particles.
- Our score: 3.9 out of 10.
Pros & cons
Charcoal bags are simple and have a real use in small spaces. The cons come from the claims, which go well beyond what a bag of charcoal can do, and from a price several times what the product usually sells for.
What we like
- No electricity, fragrance or chemicals sprayed into the air
- Can absorb some odours in small enclosed spaces such as wardrobes, shoes and cars
- Reusable: the label says it can be refreshed for up to a year
- Simple to use, with a metal eyelet for hanging
- The seller names a registered company with an address, email and phone number
What we don't
- Sold as an 'air purifier', but a passive charcoal bag does not move or filter a room's air
- The label claims it removes pollutants and allergens, with no test
- 'Premium bamboo charcoal' is a $4 add-on, though the bag already says 100% bamboo charcoal
- One 200g bag at $49 is expensive for what it is
- No help with dust, pollen, pet dander or smoke particles, which need a filter
- Return postage to an overseas seller is yours to pay

How it works
Charcoal, especially activated charcoal, has a huge surface area full of tiny pores. Some odour molecules stick to those surfaces, a process called adsorption. PureAir Max puts 200g of bamboo charcoal in a breathable linen bag. Air that drifts past the bag can lose some odour molecules to the charcoal. There is no fan, so it only works on air that reaches it, which is why it suits small enclosed spaces.

Place or hang the bag
Step 1: Put the bag where odours collect: in a wardrobe, shoe cupboard, car, gym bag or near a bin. Hang it by the metal eyelet or lay it flat.
Charcoal adsorbs odour molecules
Step 2: Porous charcoal can trap some odour molecules that drift into contact with it. It works passively, without a fan, so only air touching the bag is treated.
Refresh it in sunlight
Step 3: The label says it can be 'recharged' for up to a year. Charcoal bags are usually put in direct sunlight for a few hours every month to release moisture.
The page title lists "charcoal air purifier, air purifier bag, immediate air purifier bag, home and office air purifier bag, non-toxic, perfume-free". The six bullets promise instantly improved air quality, odourless purification, real purifying without masking, use anywhere, no chemicals or perfume, and safety around everyone with no allergens. The bag's label adds: deodoriser removes odour, purifier removes pollutants and allergens, dehumidifier prevents bacteria, mould and mildew, rechargeable up to one year, net weight 200g.
Activated or not?
Activated charcoal is treated to create far more pores than ordinary charcoal. The label says "100% natural bamboo charcoal" but does not say "activated". The difference affects how much it can adsorb.
Why a fan matters
Air purifiers move hundreds of cubic metres of air through filters each hour. A bag waits for air to drift past. In a still wardrobe that can be enough; in a living room it is not.
Who it's for
PureAir Max suits someone with a musty wardrobe, a smelly shoe cupboard, a gym bag or a car that needs a fragrance-free freshener. It does not suit anyone trying to clean a room's air for allergies or asthma.
- People with a musty wardrobe, smelly shoes or a car that needs a fragrance-free freshener
- Anyone who dislikes sprays and plug-in air fresheners
- Not people with allergies or asthma looking to clean a room's air
Wardrobes and shoe cupboards
Small, closed spaces are where charcoal bags make sense. The air is still and the charcoal is close to the source.
Cars
A bag under a seat can help with mild odours. Remove the source, such as food or wet gear, first.
Pet areas
Charcoal may take the edge off litter tray smells in a small space. Cleaning the tray often is what controls odour.
People who dislike sprays
Many air fresheners add fragrance, which some people find irritating. Charcoal adds nothing to the air.
Who should skip it
Skip PureAir Max if you want to remove dust, pollen, pet dander, mould spores or smoke, have allergies or asthma, or have a damp problem.
- Anyone wanting to remove dust, pollen, pet dander, mould spores or smoke from a room
- People with allergies or asthma who need real air filtration
- Homes with damp problems, which need ventilation and repairs
- Anyone who would rather pay a few dollars for a similar bag elsewhere
Does PureAir Max really purify the air or remove allergens?
No. A passive charcoal bag can absorb some odours near it, but it does not filter a room's air and does not remove particles such as allergens. The EPA's guide to air cleaners says activated carbon can remove gases in air cleaners when there is a large amount of material and air is moved through it. Allergens like pollen and dander are particles, which need a particle filter.
What the EPA says
The EPA's Guide to Air Cleaners in the Home explains that gas-phase filters use sorbents such as activated carbon to adsorb gases and odours, that they work best with a large amount of material, and that they are specific to certain pollutants. It also notes that removing particles needs a particle filter, and that many air cleaners need both types.
What this means for you: if your goal is cleaner air for allergies, a portable air cleaner with a HEPA filter sized for the room is the right device.
"No allergens"
The bullet says it is safe around everyone, with no allergens. A bag of charcoal is unlikely to add allergens, which is true. The label's claim that it removes allergens is a different matter, with nothing behind it.
"Dehumidifier"
Charcoal can absorb some moisture. A 200g bag in a cupboard may help a little. Damp rooms need ventilation, fixing leaks and an electric dehumidifier where humidity stays high.
"Improve instantly the environment air quality"
Adsorption is slow and limited to air that reaches the bag. An instant improvement in a room's air quality is not plausible.
Removing the source
Odours come from somewhere: shoes, bins, damp, pets, cooking. Cleaning, ventilating and fixing damp do far more than any absorber.
How much does PureAir Max cost, and what do the add-ons add?
On 6 October 2026, one 200g PureAir Max bag cost $49, with the five-pack at $135 flagged as the best seller. The checkout offered premium bamboo charcoal for $4, a performance bag for $6, a USB car adapter for $3 and a 3-year warranty for $9. Bamboo charcoal bags of this kind are widely sold, often in multi-packs, for much less per bag.
PureAir Max price and bundles
| Package | Total | Per bag |
|---|---|---|
| 1 PureAir Max | $49 | $49.00 |
| 2 PureAir Max | $69 | $34.50 |
| 3 (buy 2, get 1 free) | $98 | $32.67 |
| 4 PureAir Max | $123 | $30.75 |
| 5 (buy 3, get 2 free), best seller | $135 | $27.00 |
Prices are in US dollars as listed on 6 October 2026. Even the five-pack works out at $27 per bag. You can check today's packages on the PureAir Max order page (opens G Com Pte Ltd in a new tab).
Premium bamboo charcoal
For $4, the add-on offers "exclusive charcoal from the famous bamboo wood". The bag's label already says 100% natural bamboo charcoal. Its image shows a wooden bowl of fine black powder with bamboo leaves. Ask what is different.

Performance bag
For $6, a "performance bag" for use "even in harsh environments". Its image shows a tan linen bag with a "bamboo charcoal" tag. The standard bag is grey linen.

Car adapter and warranty
The $3 USB car adapter is unrelated to a charcoal bag. The 3-year warranty costs $9 on a product the label says lasts up to a year.
The "regular price"
Add-ons are shown against crossed-out prices, with a countdown timer on the page. We found no evidence that PureAir Max sells at a higher regular price. Linen bamboo charcoal bags with this label design are sold widely.
Who sells it
The order page names G Com Pte Ltd at 137 Market Street in Singapore, with the email support@g63com.com and a phone number. The footer gives the country as Hong Kong. The page code says charges appear on your card statement as panameedia.

Is PureAir Max better than an air purifier or baking soda?
For a room's air, a HEPA air purifier sized for the room is far better; for a cupboard, an open box of baking soda or a cheaper charcoal bag does a similar job. PureAir Max is in the cheapest class of odour absorbers, priced like a gadget.
| Option | Odours | Particles and allergens | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| PureAir Max | Some, in small spaces | No | $49 per bag |
| Cheaper charcoal bags | Some, in small spaces | No | Usually much less per bag |
| Baking soda | Some, in fridges and cupboards | No | Very low |
| HEPA air purifier with carbon filter | Yes, in a sized room | Yes | Higher |
| Ventilation and cleaning | Removes the source | Reduces dust | Low |
PureAir Max vs a HEPA air purifier
A portable air cleaner with a HEPA filter and a carbon filter, sized for the room, moves air through both and removes particles and some gases. That is the clearest case where a rival wins.
PureAir Max vs baking soda
An open box of baking soda in a fridge or cupboard is a cheap traditional odour absorber.

Is PureAir Max legit, and what should you check before buying?
PureAir Max is a real product from a named seller, and a bag should arrive if you order. Before buying, decide whether you need odour absorption in a small space or air cleaning in a room, compare prices for charcoal bags, switch from the five-pack and skip the add-ons.
Match the product to the problem
What to do: for allergies, buy a HEPA air purifier. For a smelly cupboard, a charcoal bag is fine, but compare prices.
Check the selected bundle
The five-pack for $135 is flagged as the best seller in the page code. What to do: change the order to one bag.
Card statement name and memberships
The charge appears as panameedia. Pages on this checkout have also carried text for a "Gadget Discount Club" membership that is free for 30 days and then billed. What to do: read every checkbox and post-payment page.
Refunds and returns
The page code offers a 30-day guarantee for a full refund or replacement, less shipping and handling. The terms we recorded on 4 October 2026 focus on defective goods, which can be returned within two years once you have a returns number, with return postage at your cost.
Delivery and support
The seller ships from overseas and gives no delivery estimate. What to do: save your order email, and if nothing arrives within three weeks, ask support for tracking.

How did we score PureAir Max?
PureAir Max scores 3.9 out of 10: claim accuracy 0.5, build durability 1.1, price competitiveness 0.4, usability 1.4 and owner satisfaction 0.5, each out of 2. It is a simple, fragrance-free odour absorber for small spaces. The score falls on air purifier and allergen claims a passive bag cannot meet, an add-on that repeats the label, a high price per bag and no independent ratings.
How the score breaks down
We use the five criteria on our how we test page, each out of 2.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Claim accuracy | 0.5 / 2 | "Air purifier", allergen and instant claims overstated |

| Total | 3.9 / 10 |
What owners say
We found no Trustpilot profile for the gadgetxaura.com store and no retailer reviews for PureAir Max by that name. Owners of bamboo charcoal bags on large retail sites tend to report modest help with shoe and wardrobe odours, little effect in larger rooms and some black dust from the bags.
What we did, and did not, do
Nobody on our team has used PureAir Max. We read the offer page our link opens and its page code on 6 October 2026, along with the EPA's Guide to Air Cleaners in the Home and the pages that rank for PureAir Max. The refund and returns terms are as we recorded them from the site's terms page on 4 October 2026.
How to use PureAir Max for the best results
Use PureAir Max in a small enclosed space close to the odour source, refresh it in sunlight monthly, and deal with the source of the smell too. It works best in wardrobes, shoe racks, cars and bags. Keep it dry, away from children and pets, and replace it when it stops helping.
- Choose a small space. Wardrobe, shoe cupboard, car or bin area.
- Place it close to the source. Near shoes, not across the room.
- Remove the source. Clean, dry and air out first.
- Refresh it monthly. A few hours of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry. Do not wet the bag.
- Keep it away from children and pets. Charcoal dust is messy.
- Replace it after a year. As the label suggests.
Shoes
Put one bag in a shoe cupboard or slip small bags into shoes overnight. Let shoes dry fully between wears.
Cars
Place it under a seat or in a door pocket. Remove food wrappers and wet gear.
Fridges
Baking soda is cheaper for fridges. If you use charcoal, keep it in a sealed breathable container away from food.
If it leaves black dust
Wipe surfaces and keep the bag on a cloth or in a small container.

What else do people ask about charcoal air purifier bags?
Most questions are about whether they work, how long they last and whether they are safe. They help a little with odours in small spaces, the label says they last up to a year with sunlight refreshing, and they are generally safe, though charcoal dust is messy. They are not a substitute for ventilation or an air purifier.
How many bags do I need?
For a wardrobe or car, one is plenty. For a room, bags will not clean the air, however many you use.
Do they work against smoke?
Not on smoke particles. Smoke smell lingers in fabrics and surfaces, which need cleaning, and smoke particles need a HEPA filter.
Is activated charcoal better?
Activated charcoal has more surface area and adsorbs more. The label does not say this charcoal is activated.
Can I compost the charcoal?
Many people mix used bamboo charcoal into garden soil. Check local guidance.
Frequently asked questions
Does PureAir Max purify the air?
Not in the way an air purifier does. It is a passive bag of charcoal with no fan, so it only touches air that drifts past it. The EPA says activated carbon filters can remove gases if there is a large amount of material, in air cleaners that move air through it. A 200g bag in a room cannot.
Can a charcoal bag remove allergens?
No evidence on the page shows it can. Allergens such as pollen, dust mite debris and pet dander are particles, which charcoal does not filter from room air. A portable air cleaner with a HEPA filter, sized for the room, is the device for that.
How much does PureAir Max cost?
On 6 October 2026, the offer page listed one bag for $49, two for $69, three (two plus one free) for $98, four for $123 and five (three plus two free) for $135, with the five-pack flagged as the best seller. Premium charcoal cost $4 and a performance bag $6 extra.
Do charcoal bags work for odours?
They can help with mild odours in small, enclosed spaces like wardrobes, shoe cupboards, gym bags and cars, where the air is still and the charcoal is close. In a whole room, the effect is small. Removing the source of a smell and ventilating matter more.
How do you recharge a charcoal bag?
The label says it can be recharged for up to a year. Charcoal bags are commonly placed in direct sunlight for a few hours once a month to release moisture. The page gives no instructions, so check the packaging.
Does it stop mould?
The label calls it a dehumidifier that absorbs moisture to prevent mould. A small bag can absorb a little moisture in a cupboard, but it cannot control humidity in a room. Mould needs ventilation, fixing leaks and, where needed, a real dehumidifier.
Is PureAir Max legit?
It is a real product sold by G Com Pte Ltd, which lists a Singapore address, email and phone number. The concerns are the air purifier and allergen claims, a price far above typical charcoal bags, add-ons for what the label already says, the five-pack flagged as best seller and return postage at your cost.
