The Best Household Gadgets of 2026
Household gadgets sold through offer pages promise to end scrubbing, ironing and cleaning for good. None of them does, but a few make a chore quicker or easier for not much money. We ranked the 16 household gadgets we have reviewed and kept the five that scored 5.5 or higher and do their main job according to independent tests or a large body of owner reports. The order follows the review scores, and each pick says plainly what it will not do.

03How we picked
- Scored 5.5 or higher on our five criteria in its full review
- Does its main job according to an independent test or a large body of owner reports
- Not a stand-in for a safety product, such as a fire extinguisher or smoke alarm
- Return terms that cover a product you have opened and used, or a price low enough that the risk is small
What we checked: Built from our 16 household gadget reviews, each based on the official product and offer pages, return policies, independent tests and aggregated owner reports read between 2026-10-03 and 2026-10-05, with no hands-on use. Ranking follows the review scores among the products that met all four criteria. Read the full method on our how we test page.
04The picks, ranked
Best Overall
01Campanelli Pro Series Stain Remover

An 18 oz foaming aerosol you spray standing up, which a detailed independent test found removed most common carpet and upholstery stains.
Best for: Pet and child spills on carpet
- Type
- Stain remover
- Price
- $25
- Sold by
- Campanelli
- Guarantee
- 55 days, money-back
- Score
- 6.6 / 10
Key features
- 18 oz foaming aerosol
- Carpet, upholstery, laundry pre-treat
- $24.99, 55-day guarantee
Why it made the list
- Sprays upside down, no kneeling
- Handled wine, coffee, pet urine and makeup in testing
- Not for wool or velvet
What we like
- Large 18 oz aerosol you spray standing up, upside down, straight onto the stain
- A detailed independent test found it removed most common household stains, including red wine, coffee, pet urine and makeup
- Works on carpet and upholstery and can pre-treat laundry, according to the brand
What we don't
- Its own label says old stains may need blotting, light agitation and a second application, unlike 'no scrubbing'
- Not for wool or velvet, a warning the offer page leaves out
- Flammable aerosol with an eye-irritant solvent; 'safe around kids and pets' only applies when used as directed
Skip it if: Your rugs are wool or your upholstery is velvet or antique, which its label rules out.

Best for Pet Owners
02FurZapper
6.5/10$30
Tacky silicone discs that tumble with your laundry and pull dog and cat hair off clothes, towels and bedding in the washer and dryer.
Best for: Hairy laundry
- Type
- Laundry pet hair remover
- Price
- $30
- Sold by
- FurZapper
- Price
- $29.99 for four discs
- Score
- 6.5 / 10
Key features
- Tacky silicone paw-shaped discs
- Used in washer and dryer
- Reusable; rinse to clean
Why it made the list
- Hands-free and reusable for many loads
- Same price as the brand's own store
- Skip fabric softener and dryer sheets
What we like
- Hands-free: toss the discs in with your laundry for the wash and the dryer
- Reusable silicone that lasts many loads, according to the brand and owners
- Inexpensive: the offer page's $29.99 option shows four discs, the same as FurZapper's own store for two double packs
What we don't
- Will not remove every hair, despite "remove ALL pet hair, guaranteed"
- Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets; they coat the discs and reduce grip
- Works best with smaller, less crowded loads and several discs
Skip it if: You will not give up fabric softener or dryer sheets, which coat the discs.

Best for Travel
03riddiaPress
6.1/10$40
A pocket-sized cordless iron that heats in about a minute and charges by USB-C, for collars, cuffs and a single shirt.
Best for: Hotel-room touch-ups
- Type
- Cordless travel iron
- Price
- $40
- Sold by
- riddia
- Guarantee
- 30 days, money-back
- Warranty
- One year
- Score
- 6.1 / 10
Key features
- Dry ceramic-style soleplate, about 240°F according to the page's image
- Rechargeable via USB-C; auto shut-off
- About the size of a phone; dual-voltage
Why it made the list
- Fits in a pocket or wash bag
- Switches itself off when idle
- About one shirt per charge
What we like
- Truly pocket-sized and cordless, so you can touch up clothes anywhere
- Heats in about 60 seconds and switches off automatically when idle
- Charges by USB-C; dual-voltage charging for travel, according to the page
What we don't
- Its own images list 240°F, well below the heat normally used to iron cotton
- Coverage says one charge does about one dress shirt; the FAQ only says "multiple uses"
- "Pro results on any fabric" overstates a small dry iron; thick fabrics need extra passes
Skip it if: You iron whole loads of cotton or linen. Its listed 240°F is well below normal cotton heat.

Best for Fingerprints
04Jiffys
5.8/10$30
Eleven restickable gel-backed cleaning pads in four sizes that live on your fridge, phone case or laptop, right where smudges happen.
Best for: Stainless steel and screens
- Type
- Smudge-cleaning pads
- Price
- $30
- Sold by
- Jiffys
- Guarantee
- 30 days
- Score
- 5.8 / 10
Key features
- Chamois-polyamide fabric face with silicone gel backing
- 11 pads: 1 Large, 2 Medium, 3 Small, 5 XS
- Six colours
Why it made the list
- Always to hand, no sprays
- Washable and restickable
- Lifetime replacement warranty
What we like
- Always where you need them: stick a pad on the fridge, phone case, laptop or glasses case
- Removes fingerprints and smudges without sprays, according to owners
- 11 pads in four sizes per set, from fingertip to four-finger
What we don't
- "Kills harmful bacteria and disinfects on contact" is a public-health claim that normally needs EPA registration; treat it as unproven
- Small pads have little cleaning area; heavy grease and grime still need a proper clean
- $29.99 plus shipping for one set is a lot compared with microfiber cloths
Skip it if: You want to disinfect surfaces. The 'kills bacteria' claim is unproven; use a registered disinfectant.

Best for Tablet Users
05Happy Toilet Cleaner
5.6/10$25
A plumber-designed, patented holder that keeps an in-tank cleaning tablet away from the flapper and fill valve and sends the cleaner to the bowl.
Best for: People who already use tablets
- Type
- In-tank tablet holder
- Price
- $25
- Sold by
- Happy Toilet Cleaner
- Guarantee
- 90 days, money-back
- Score
- 5.6 / 10
Key features
- Blue plastic tablet chamber that clips to the overflow tube
- Adjustable ¼-inch fill hose and securing clip
- One cleaning tablet included, according to the brand store
Why it made the list
- Protects tank parts from strong cleaner
- Tool-free fitting on most gravity toilets
- Longest guarantee here
What we like
- Keeps the tablet out of the open tank water, so concentrated cleaner goes to the bowl instead of sitting on the flapper and fill valve
- Invented by a plumber and covered by a granted US patent (US 11,821,189)
- Tool-free fitting in a few minutes on most standard gravity-flush toilets
What we don't
- "Never scrub again" is overstated: tablets slow down stains in the bowl water but do not remove limescale rings, splashes under the rim or marks above the water line
- Not for every toilet: Kohler models need the separate Deuce version, and pressure-assist, tankless and some dual-flush designs are unlikely to fit
- Kohler says use of any in-tank cleaner voids its toilet warranty, and the holder still sits inside the tank
Skip it if: You own a Kohler toilet under warranty. Kohler says any in-tank cleaner voids it.
What separates the five from the rest
We have reviewed 16 household gadgets, and half of them scored below 5.0. That is not because cleaning gadgets are useless. It is because the offer pages selling them make promises no product could keep, such as "never scrub again", and many charge well over what the same thing costs elsewhere. Our scores count claim accuracy and price, so a decent product with an inflated page still loses points.
The five picks share something simple: each one does its main job, and there is evidence beyond the seller's own page that it does. For the Campanelli stain remover, that evidence is a detailed independent stain test. For FurZapper, riddiaPress and Jiffys, it is a large body of owner reports that agree on what the product does well and where it falls short. For Happy Toilet Cleaner, it is a granted patent and a design that makes mechanical sense, though independent evidence is thin, which is why it ranks last.
Where each pick saves you effort
Campanelli saves your knees. You spray it standing up, straight onto the stain, and blot. FurZapper saves the lint roller: the discs go in with the wash and the dryer, though you will clean the lint trap and filter more often. riddiaPress saves packing a full iron or steamer, as long as you only need to smooth a collar or a shirt. Jiffys save hunting for a cloth, because the pad is already stuck to the fridge or phone. Happy Toilet Cleaner saves the flapper and fill valve from the strong cleaner that tablets leave sitting in the tank.
None of them saves you from cleaning. Each review lists the jobs the product cannot do, and they are worth reading before you buy.
Close calls and clear misses
Two gadgets scored high enough but failed another rule. The Zippi Sweeper (5.7) is a fair cordless sweeper for hard floors, but its written policy only takes back unopened units. HALT fire spray (5.5) is easy to use on tiny fires, but it is not a replacement for a proper extinguisher, and a guide like this should not suggest otherwise. FixIts repair sticks scored 5.0, just short.
Further down, the CleanRobot mini robot sweeper (3.0), Mosquitron UV insect trap (3.6), EcoHeat S heater (3.8) and SmokeSOS smoke alarm (3.8) were held back by price, missing specifications and claims they cannot back up. For a smoke alarm, buy a listed model from a hardware store. Browse every review in our household gadgets category, and see our best health gadgets guide for gadgets that help with aches and stress.
The bottom line
If you buy one thing, make it the Campanelli spray, but only if you have regular spills on synthetic carpet or upholstery, because it is the pick with the best independent evidence. Pet owners will get more out of FurZapper, at $29.99 for four reusable discs. riddiaPress earns its place in a suitcase, not an ironing basket. Jiffys and Happy Toilet Cleaner are small fixes for specific annoyances, so buy them only if you have that exact annoyance. Whatever you buy, ignore the promise that you will never scrub again.
Frequently asked questions
What household gadget is actually worth buying?
The Campanelli Pro Series stain remover has the strongest case: a detailed independent test found it removed most common household stains, often in one go, and you spray it standing up. It still needs blotting and a second go on old stains, and it is not for wool or velvet. FurZapper is the best buy for pet owners.
Why is the Zippi Sweeper not on this list?
It scored 5.7, above our bar, but its written return policy only refunds unopened units in their original packaging within 30 days. You cannot tell whether a sweeper suits your floors without using it, so a policy like that fails our returns rule. It is a decent tool for quick daily sweeps of hard floors if you accept that risk.
Is HALT fire spray a good replacement for a fire extinguisher?
No. HALT scored 5.5 and is easy to use on tiny fires, but aerosol fire sprays are not a substitute for a code-rated extinguisher, and safety bodies warn against relying on them alone. We left it out of this guide for that reason. If a fire is spreading, get out and call 911.
Do any of these gadgets save you from cleaning?
No. Each one makes a chore faster or easier, and each sales page promises more than that. Campanelli still needs blotting on old stains, FurZapper does not remove every hair, riddiaPress does about one shirt per charge, and in-tank tablets do not remove limescale above the waterline.
Are offer-page prices higher than buying direct?
Sometimes. FurZapper's offer page matched the brand's own store price when we checked. For other gadgets we reviewed, the offer page charged more than the brand store or a retailer. Each full review compares the prices we found on the day we checked.
