Clear coat scratch pen

Quick answer

Probably not, unless your scratch is barely there. ScratchUndo Pro is a clear coat pen, and the one pictured carries a "Clear Coat Applicator" label like the Fix It Pro style of pen that Consumer Reports and TV testers found useless on scratches you can feel.

Our verdict

Probably not, unless your scratch is barely there. ScratchUndo Pro is a clear coat pen, and the one pictured carries a "Clear Coat Applicator" label like the Fix It Pro style of pen that Consumer Reports and TV testers found useless on scratches you can feel. Clear filler can hide the faintest scuffs in the top layer. It cannot restore colour or fill deeper damage, despite "any paint, any color" and "proven fast results". ScratchUndo Pro scores 2.8 out of 10, held back by its claims and test record.

The short version

  • What it is: a pen that fills scratches with clear coat liquid.
  • Price: $39 for one on 6 October 2026, with a five-pack for $99 flagged as the best seller.
  • Best trait: no colour matching, and it may hide very light scuffs.
  • Biggest drawback: testers found this style of pen fails on scratches deep enough to feel.
  • Our score: 2.8 out of 10.

Pros & cons

Scratch pens appeal because they promise a cheap fix in minutes. The pros are what a clear filler can genuinely do. The cons reflect what independent testers found and what the page promises.

What we like

  • Colourless, so there is no paint colour to match
  • Can fill very light clear coat scuffs, according to independent testers
  • Small and simple, with spare tips offered
  • The seller names a registered company with an address, email and phone number

What we don't

  • The pen pictured is labelled 'Clear Coat Applicator', a design Consumer Reports and TV testers found ineffective on deeper scratches
  • 'Restore immediately', 'proven fast results' and 'any paint, any color' overstate what clear coat filler can do
  • Wide tips can leave visible residue that looks worse than the scratch
  • A polishing compound or detailer usually does more for light scratches
  • At $39 for one, it costs more than the same style of pen at large retailers
  • Return postage to an overseas seller is yours to pay

How it works

Car paint is layered: bare metal, primer, a colour coat and a clear coat on top. ScratchUndo Pro holds a clear liquid that you dab into a scratch through a felt tip. As it dries, it fills the groove, so light reflects more evenly and the scratch looks less obvious. It adds no colour, so it can only disguise damage that stays within the clear top layer.

  1. Clean the scratch

Step 1: Wash and dry the area so no dirt or wax sits in the scratch.

  2. Prime and apply the pen

Step 2: Press the tip to start the flow, then run it along the scratch to fill it with clear coat liquid.

  3. Wipe the excess and let it cure

Step 3: Wipe off any liquid outside the scratch straight away and let the rest dry, out of the rain.

The page title calls it an "effective car scratch remover pen", a "scratch eraser pen" and a "color neutral car scratch remover". The six bullets promise to "restore immediately car paint scratches", an "effective colorless scratch remover pen", "proven fast results in first application", use "on any paint and any color", a safe way to "restore paint shine", and safety "on all spots, plastic and metallic".

The pen in the photos

The product photo and the add-on images show a red and yellow pen labelled "Clear Coat Applicator", with felt tips. The same look has been sold for years as Fix It Pro and under other names. We could not confirm who makes this one.

The before and after photos

The page shows a red car door with a pale scratch, then without it. Photos like this cannot show how deep the scratch was or how it was lit.

Who it's for

ScratchUndo Pro is only worth trying on very faint clear coat scuffs, the kind your fingernail glides over, by someone who accepts the result may be marginal. It is not for scratches you can feel, scratches showing white, grey or metal, or anyone selling a car. Our WashUpGo review covers a cordless pressure washer for cleaning before any repair.

  • Drivers with very faint clear coat scuffs who want a cheap first try
  • People who accept the result may be barely visible or no better
  • Anyone comfortable wiping excess quickly and neatly

Drivers with faint scuffs

Light marks from bushes, bags or fingernails around door handles sit in the clear coat. A filler may hide them for a while.

People willing to experiment

If you go in expecting little and keep the area small, the downside is limited.

Who should skip it

Skip ScratchUndo Pro if your fingernail catches in the scratch, if you can see primer or metal, if you want a body shop finish, or if you would rather try polishing compound first.

  • Anyone with scratches they can feel with a fingernail
  • Drivers with scratches showing primer, white or bare metal
  • People who want a body shop finish or are selling a car
  • Buyers who would rather try polishing compound first

Does ScratchUndo Pro really erase car scratches?

Only the lightest ones, based on tests of pens like it. Consumer Reports found scratch repair pens will not help on any scratch deep enough to feel with a fingernail or that shows primer or metal, and that wide tips can leave residue more noticeable than the scratch. A TV "Does it Work?" test of Fix It Pro named it the worst product it tried that year.

What Consumer Reports found

Consumer Reports' scratch repair pen review tested several pens, including Fix It Pro, on scratches of different depths. Its advice was to skip these quick fixes for minor abrasions and try a cleaning polish instead.

What this means for you: do the fingernail test before you buy anything.

What a body repair firm found

ChipsAway, a UK paint repair company, published a review of the Simoniz Fix It Pro pen, the best-known pen of this style. It said the pen might improve the look of shallow scratches, with inconsistent and temporary results, and would not help deeper ones much. A paint repairer has a reason to favour professional repair, but the finding matches Consumer Reports.

The TV test

KFVS12's Does it Work? segment on Fix It Pro found it filled light clear coat scratches but did nothing for scratches into the paint, and called it the worst product it tested in 2010.

"Can be used on any paint and any color"

Clear liquid suits any colour only because it adds no colour. It cannot fix a scratch that has removed colour.

What to do: for scratches showing white, grey or metal, use colour-matched touch-up paint or a body shop.

How much does ScratchUndo Pro cost, and what do the add-ons add?

On 6 October 2026, one ScratchUndo Pro cost $39, with the five-pack at $99 flagged as the best seller. The checkout offered extra tips for $7, a "liquid shine" for deeper scratches for $14, a USB car adapter for $4 and a 3-year warranty for $9. Pens of this style sell for less at large retailers.

Extra tips

For $7, replacement tips "for heavy scratches". The image shows the pen with two yellow felt tips, which the main photo suggests come in the box anyway.

Liquid shine

For $14, a "specialized liquid for deeper scratches". The image shows the same pen leaking clear liquid onto plastic film. No product, ingredient or instructions are shown, and clear liquid cannot fix deeper scratches.

Car adapter and warranty

A $4 USB car adapter has nothing to do with a scratch pen; skip it. A 3-year warranty for $9 on a pen is hard to justify.

Who sells it

Is ScratchUndo Pro better than polishing compound or touch-up paint?

No. For light clear coat scratches, a scratch or polishing compound usually does more, and for deeper scratches, colour-matched touch-up paint is the right tool. Compound levels the clear coat so the scratch disappears rather than being filled. Touch-up paint restores missing colour. A body shop or mobile repairer handles the rest.

ScratchUndo Pro vs polishing compound

Compound removes a whisker of clear coat around a light scratch so it vanishes. That is the clearest case where a rival wins, and it is what Consumer Reports suggested.

ScratchUndo Pro vs touch-up paint

Touch-up paint, matched to your car's paint code, fills chips and scratches into the colour. It takes patience but can look good.

Is ScratchUndo Pro legit, and what should you check before buying?

ScratchUndo Pro is a real product from a named seller, and a pen should arrive if you order. Before buying, do the fingernail test, consider compound first, switch from the five-pack, skip the add-ons and note the card statement name.

Do the fingernail test

What to do: run a fingernail across the scratch. If it catches, or you see white, grey or metal, a clear pen will not fix it.

Check the selected bundle

The five-pack for $99 is flagged as the best seller in the page code. What to do: change the order to one pen.

Card statement name and memberships

The charge appears as Matrixfze. Pages on this checkout have also carried text for a "Gadget Discount Club" membership that is free for 30 days and then billed. What to do: read every checkbox and post-payment page.

Refunds and returns

The page code offers a 30-day guarantee for a full refund or replacement, less shipping and handling. The terms we recorded on 4 October 2026 focus on defective goods, which can be returned within two years once you have a returns number, with return postage at your cost. A pen that simply does not work well may not count as defective.

How to buy ScratchUndo Pro the smart way

  1. Do the fingernail test first.
  2. Open the ScratchUndo Pro order page (opens G Com Pte Ltd in a new tab) and select your country.
  3. Change the five-pack to one pen.
  4. Leave the add-ons, car adapter and warranty unticked.
  5. Note the card statement name, Matrixfze.

How did we score ScratchUndo Pro?

ScratchUndo Pro scores 2.8 out of 10: claim accuracy 0.2, build durability 0.8, price competitiveness 0.4, usability 1.0 and owner satisfaction 0.4, each out of 2. A clear filler can disguise the faintest scuffs. The score falls on "restore immediately", "proven" and "any paint" claims, a pen design with poor independent test results, a vague "liquid shine" add-on and a price above the same style of pen elsewhere.

How the score breaks down

We use the five criteria on our how we test page, each out of 2.

CriterionScoreWhy
Claim accuracy0.2 / 2"Restore immediately" and "proven" not borne out by tests
Build durability0.8 / 2Filler can wash out or yellow over time
Price competitiveness0.4 / 2Above similar pens; compound costs less
Usability1.0 / 2Simple, but residue is easy to leave
Owner satisfaction0.4 / 2No independent ratings for this listing
Total2.8 / 10

What owners say

We found no Trustpilot profile for the gadgetxaura.com store and no retailer reviews for ScratchUndo Pro by that name. Owners of Fix It Pro style pens on review sites report that faint marks look slightly better, deeper scratches look the same, the liquid leaves a shiny smear if not wiped quickly, and results fade after a few washes.

What we did, and did not, do

Nobody on our team has used ScratchUndo Pro. We read the offer page our link opens and its page code on 6 October 2026, along with Consumer Reports, ChipsAway and KFVS12 tests of similar pens and the pages that rank for ScratchUndo Pro. The refund and returns terms are as we recorded them from the site's terms page on 4 October 2026.

How to use ScratchUndo Pro for the best chance of success

Pick a faint scratch your fingernail glides over, wash and dry the area, apply the liquid only inside the scratch, and wipe away any excess immediately. Work in the shade, keep it dry while it cures, and test on a hidden spot first. If the scratch still shows, try polishing compound rather than more layers.

  1. Do the fingernail test. Only faint scuffs.
  2. Wash and dry the panel. Remove wax and dirt.
  3. Test on a hidden spot. Check the finish.
  4. Prime the tip. Press until liquid flows.
  5. Stay inside the scratch. Use light strokes.
  6. Wipe excess at once. A soft cloth, before it dries.
  7. Keep it dry while it cures. No washing for a day or two.

If it looks worse

Gentle polishing compound can remove residue from the surrounding paint. Work slowly and by hand.

Plastic bumpers and trim

The page says it is safe on plastic. Test first, because some textured trim shows residue badly.

What else do people ask about car scratch pens?

Most questions are about how long a fix lasts, keyed cars and toothpaste. Clear filler can wash out over time, keyed scratches usually need paint, and toothpaste is a mild abrasive with mixed results. Browse our car gadget reviews for other options.

How long does a scratch pen fix last?

Often until the next few washes or a season of weather. Polishing removes the scratch rather than filling it.

Will it fix a keyed car?

Usually not. Keyed scratches tend to go through to the colour or primer.

Does toothpaste work on scratches?

It is a mild abrasive and can soften the faintest marks, but a proper compound is more predictable.

Will it affect my car's resale value?

A visible smear can look worse than the scratch. For a car you are selling, consider a professional repair.

Frequently asked questions

Does ScratchUndo Pro work?

Only on the faintest scuffs, if this pen performs like the clear coat pens it resembles. Consumer Reports found scratch pens of this type will not help on any scratch deep enough to feel with a fingernail or showing primer or metal, and can leave visible residue.

How much does ScratchUndo Pro cost?

On 6 October 2026, the offer page listed one ScratchUndo Pro for $39, two for $59, three (two plus one free) for $79, four for $89 and five (three plus two free) for $99, with the five-pack flagged as the best seller. Extra tips cost $7, liquid shine $14 and a 3-year warranty $9.

Is ScratchUndo Pro the same as Fix It Pro?

The pen pictured is labelled 'Clear Coat Applicator' and looks like the Fix It Pro style of pen sold under several names. We cannot confirm the maker. Fix It Pro was tested by Consumer Reports and TV consumer segments, with poor results on deeper scratches.

Does it work on any colour?

The page says any paint and any colour, because the liquid is clear. A clear filler can only hide scratches in the clear top layer. If a scratch reaches the colour coat or primer, you need matching touch-up paint.

How do I know if my scratch is too deep?

Run a fingernail across it. If your nail glides over, it is likely in the clear coat and may polish out. If it catches, or you see white, grey or metal, it has gone deeper and needs touch-up paint or a body shop.

What works better for light scratches?

A scratch or polishing compound applied by hand or with a machine polisher removes light clear coat scratches by levelling the surface. For deeper scratches, colour-matched touch-up paint or a professional repair works better.

Is ScratchUndo Pro legit?

It is a real product sold by G Com Pte Ltd, which lists a Singapore address, email and phone number. The concerns are 'proven' and 'any scratch' claims, a pen design with poor test results, a high price and return postage at your cost.
