Quick answer
Yes, as a beginner drone, but not at this price. SmartyDrone's photo shows a black folding quadcopter marked "Z908 Pro", and that model has features that genuinely help new pilots: front and side collision sensors, optical-flow hovering and a camera you can tilt from the remote.

Our verdict
Yes, as a beginner drone, but not at this price. SmartyDrone's photo shows a black folding quadcopter marked "Z908 Pro", and that model has features that genuinely help new pilots: front and side collision sensors, optical-flow hovering and a camera you can tilt from the remote. It weighs about 138 grams in one listing, under the FAA's 250-gram registration line. But the same drone lists for about $51 elsewhere, "4K" is unproven, the 18-minute battery is a $17 add-on and there is no GPS. SmartyDrone scores 3.5 out of 10, held back by price.
The short version
- What it is: a folding Wi-Fi camera drone with front and side obstacle sensors and optical-flow positioning.
- Price: $99 for one on 6 October 2026, with a five-pack for $297 flagged as the best seller.
- Best trait: collision sensors that make indoor learning less crash-prone.
- Biggest drawback: it looks like a Z908 Pro, listed elsewhere for about half.
- Our score: 3.5 out of 10.
Pros & cons
The pros are features that matter to first-time pilots. The cons are mostly about price, claims and the extras.
What we like
- Front and side collision sensors help beginners avoid walls
- Optical-flow camera helps it hold position indoors and at low height
- Remote-tilt front camera and one-button take-off and landing
- Folds into a carry case, according to the offer photo
- The seller names a registered company with an address, email and phone number
What we don't
- The photo shows a drone marked Z908 Pro, which other sellers list for about $51
- "4K" is unproven; Z908 Pro listings give conflicting video resolutions
- The 18-minute battery is a $17 add-on, and the base battery's flight time is not stated
- The $13 propeller add-on image shows a different drone
- No GPS, so it can drift and has no automatic return home
- Return postage to an overseas seller is yours to pay

How it works
SmartyDrone is a small brushed-motor quadcopter you fly from a remote with your phone clipped on top for the live view. A downward optical-flow camera watches the ground pattern so the drone can hold its spot without GPS. Infrared sensors on the front and sides detect nearby obstacles and push the drone back. The front camera tilts on command from the controller.

Charge and unfold
Step 1: Charge the battery, unfold the arms and connect your phone to the drone's Wi-Fi in its app.
One-button take-off
Step 2: Press take-off; optical flow and the barometer hold it in a steady hover a short way above the ground.
Fly and film
Step 3: Steer with the remote, tilt the camera from the controller, and let the sensors nudge it away from walls.
The page title calls it a "4K Smart Flight Drone", "Collision Avoidance Drone", "Optical Flow Drone" and "Remote Controlled 4K Camera Drone". The six bullets cover flight stabilisation, one-button take-off and landing, front and side anti-collision sensors, a motorised front camera, optical flow and portability.
The Z908 Pro match
The drone in the photo is marked "Z908 Pro", "Cine" and "3 Mini". One Z908 Pro listing on rcdrone.top gives 138 grams with battery, a 3.7V 2000mAh battery, about 15 minutes of flight, about 200 metres of control range, brushed motors and three-sided obstacle avoidance, at about $51.
What the page leaves out
There is no weight, video resolution, range, flight time for the standard battery, or charging time. Like our DroneXS review found, you have to piece the specs together from other sellers.
Who it's for
SmartyDrone suits beginners learning to fly indoors or in calm weather, and gift buyers who want a camera drone with a case. It is not for serious video or open-field flying. Our XPro Drone review covers a $199 folding drone with GPS for outdoor use.
- Beginners who want help avoiding walls and furniture
- Teens and adults learning to fly indoors or in calm weather
- Gift buyers who want a camera drone with a carry case
Indoor learners
Side sensors and optical-flow hovering forgive the bumps that ground most first drones.
Teens
A good first step, with an adult checking rules and battery care.
Gift buyers
The folding design and zipped case make a neat present.
Who should skip it
Skip SmartyDrone if you want real 4K or stable outdoor video, need GPS return-to-home, are hunting for the lowest price on a Z908 Pro, or are buying for a young child who would fly unsupervised.
- Anyone wanting real 4K footage or stable outdoor video
- People who need GPS return-to-home for open spaces
- Bargain hunters, since the Z908 Pro sells for less elsewhere
- Young children without close supervision
Do SmartyDrone's 4K and collision-avoidance claims hold up?
The sensors are real; the 4K is not proven. The photo shows sensors on the front and sides, and Z908 Pro listings describe three-sided obstacle avoidance that stops or pushes the drone back. The page gives no video resolution, while Z908 Pro listings variously quote 1080p, 4K and 2560x1440. Wi-Fi drones at this price usually record soft, shaky footage without a gimbal.
"Equipped With Front And Sides Anti-Collision Sensors"
Infrared sensors work best against plain walls at low speed. Thin branches, glass and the area behind the drone are blind spots. What this means for you: the sensors reduce crashes; they do not prevent them.
"4K Smart Flight Drone"
There is no resolution, frame rate or sample footage. The camera tilts but is not stabilised.
"Optical Flow Camera For Automatic Flight Adjustment"
Optical flow holds position over patterned floors and grass at low height. It struggles over plain surfaces, water, in dim light and higher up.
US rules
The FAA's guidance for recreational flyers says drones under 250 grams do not need registration for recreational use, but all recreational flyers must pass the free Trust test, fly at or below 400 feet in uncontrolled airspace and keep the drone in sight.
What to do: weigh it with the battery fitted, take the Trust test and check local airspace before flying outside.
How much does SmartyDrone cost, and which add-ons matter?
On 6 October 2026, one SmartyDrone cost $99, with the five-pack at $297 flagged as the best seller. The checkout offered extra propellers for $13, a large battery version for $17, a USB car adapter for $4 and a 3-year warranty for $9. A Z908 Pro listing elsewhere was about $51, so even with the battery, you pay roughly double.

Large battery version
For $17, a battery "capable of an outstanding 18 minutes of flight time". The image shows a green 3.7V modular pack. If you buy, this is the add-on that matters.

Extra propellers
For $13, an "original" propeller set. The image shows a grey and white folding drone of a different design with its own propellers. What to do: ask the seller to confirm the propellers fit before paying.

Car adapter and warranty
A $4 USB car adapter charges the battery on the go. The 3-year warranty costs $9.
Who sells it
The order page names G Com Pte Ltd at 137 Market Street in Singapore, with the email support@g63com.com and a phone number. The footer gives the country as Hong Kong. The page code says charges appear on your card statement as drone720x.com.

Is SmartyDrone better than DroneXS, Explore AIR or a GPS drone?
For beginners, its side sensors give it an edge over the other toy drones from this checkout. DroneXS and Explore AIR are similar drones at $89 to $99 without side-sensor claims, and Explore AIR sells optical flow as a $27 add-on. For outdoor video, a GPS drone like XPro Drone holds position better and can return home.
| Drone | Obstacle sensors | GPS | Battery time stated | Price seen |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SmartyDrone | Front and sides | No | 18 min with $17 add-on | $99 |
| DroneXS | No | No | No | $89 |
| Explore AIR | Not claimed | No | 12 to 15 min | $99 |
| XPro Drone | Not claimed | Yes | 26 min claimed | $199 |
SmartyDrone vs Explore AIR and Drone Ultra
Our Explore AIR review and Drone Ultra review cover folding toy drones with similar marketing. SmartyDrone's front and side sensors are the clearest difference.
SmartyDrone vs DroneX Pro
Our DroneX Pro review covers one of the best-known drones sold this way.
Where a rival wins
The same Z908 Pro from a general online shop costs about half. If you are comfortable buying there, that is the better deal.

How did we score SmartyDrone?
SmartyDrone scores 3.5 out of 10: claim accuracy 0.6, build durability 0.7, price competitiveness 0.4, usability 1.3 and owner satisfaction 0.5, each out of 2. Side sensors and optical flow make it beginner-friendly. The score falls on a Z908 Pro sold at about twice its price elsewhere, unproven 4K, a battery upgrade sold extra and an add-on image of a different drone.
How the score breaks down
We use the five criteria on our how we test page, each out of 2.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Claim accuracy | 0.6 / 2 | Sensors real; "4K" unproven |
| Build durability | 0.7 / 2 | Brushed motors, light frame |
| Price competitiveness | 0.4 / 2 | About double the Z908 Pro elsewhere |
| Usability | 1.3 / 2 | Sensors and hover help beginners |
| Owner satisfaction | 0.5 / 2 | Mixed Z908 Pro feedback elsewhere |
| Total | 3.5 / 10 |
What owners say
We found no Trustpilot profile for the gadgetxaura.com store and no retailer reviews for SmartyDrone by that name. Z908 Pro buyers on shop listings praise the sensors and hovering indoors, with one reporting about 20 minutes per battery; complaints elsewhere are typical of toy drones: drift outdoors, Wi-Fi lag and soft video.
What we did, and did not, do
Nobody on our team has flown SmartyDrone. We read the offer page our link opens and its page code on 6 October 2026, along with a Z908 Pro listing, FAA guidance and the pages that rank for SmartyDrone. The refund and returns terms are as we recorded them from the site's terms page on 4 October 2026.
How to use SmartyDrone for safer first flights
Start indoors in a large room with a patterned floor, hover at waist height, and practise slow turns before going outside. Calibrate before each session, keep flights short until you know the battery, and fly outdoors only on calm days in open space, below 400 feet and in sight.
- Calibrate first. Follow the manual's gyro calibration on flat ground.
- Patterned floors. Optical flow needs texture.
- Waist-height hovers. Learn the sticks before climbing.
- Trust the sensors, not too much. Fly slowly near walls.
- Calm days only outside. No GPS means drift.
- Land at the first battery warning. Do not stretch it.
- Cool batteries before charging. Never charge unattended.
Filming tips
Fly slowly and tilt the camera smoothly; jerky stick input shows in the footage.
After a crash
Check each propeller for cracks and replace damaged ones before flying again.

The $17 large battery is one. Ask whether standard spares are sold.
Can it fly in wind?
Only light breezes. At around 138 grams, it gets pushed around.
Does it need an app?
Yes, for the live view and recording on your phone.
Frequently asked questions
Is SmartyDrone a Z908 Pro?
The offer photo shows a drone marked 'Z908 Pro', 'Cine' and '3 Mini'. Z908 Pro drones are sold by many online shops, with one listing at about $51 giving 138 grams, a 3.7V 2000mAh battery, about 200 metres of range and three-sided obstacle avoidance.
How much does SmartyDrone cost?
On 6 October 2026, the offer page listed one SmartyDrone for $99, two for $159, three (two plus one free) for $197, four for $249 and five (three plus two free) for $297, with the five-pack flagged as the best seller. Extra propellers cost $13, the large battery $17 and a 3-year warranty $9.
Does SmartyDrone shoot 4K?
The page title says '4K', but it gives no video resolution. Z908 Pro listings variously claim 1080p, 4K and 2560x1440, and drones in this price range often record lower than their headline figure. Expect usable but soft video.
How long does SmartyDrone fly?
The page sells a 'Large Battery Version' for $17 with an 18-minute flight time and does not state the standard battery's time. One Z908 Pro listing gives about 15 minutes. Real flights are shorter in wind.
Do I need to register SmartyDrone with the FAA?
Z908 Pro listings give its weight as 138 grams. The FAA says recreational drones under 250 grams do not need registration, but all recreational flyers must pass the free Trust test and follow the safety rules. Weigh yours to confirm.
Does SmartyDrone have GPS?
No GPS is mentioned. It uses an optical-flow camera to hold position over textured ground at low height, which works indoors but not high up or over water, so it can drift away in wind.
Is SmartyDrone legit?
It is a real drone sold by G Com Pte Ltd, which lists a Singapore address, email and phone number. The concerns are a Z908 Pro sold at about twice its price elsewhere, unproven 4K, a battery upgrade sold extra and return postage at your cost.
We may earn a commission if you buy through our links.
