Aroma Amplifier Review: How the Flameless Diffuser Works, What It Really Costs and Who Should Buy

A rechargeable fan diffuser that blows air over a scented mineral puck. It removes fire, water and wax from home fragrance, but not fragrance chemicals, and the pucks are the real running cost.

Our verdict

Yes, if you love home fragrance and want it without candles' open flame or the refilling and cleaning of oil diffusers. The Aroma Amplifier is a quiet, rechargeable fan that blows air across a scented mineral puck, and it does that job simply. It is not a "no chemicals" or "safe for everyone" product: fragrance in the air can still bother people with asthma and some pets. At $59.99 plus $14.99 pucks that last up to 200 hours, it scores 5.8 out of 10, held back by those safety overstatements, the ongoing puck cost and no independent owner rating.

The short version

  • A small, rechargeable fan diffuser: drop a scented AromaPuck in, choose one of three fan speeds, and it scents the room.
  • No flame, heat, water, wax or oil residue; up to 22 hours per charge and usable plugged in, according to the brand.
  • On 3 October 2026: $59.99 plus shipping with one free puck on the offer page; pucks $14.99 each (25% off on subscription) on the brand's store.
  • Best trait: candle-like scent with no fire risk and nothing to refill or clean.
  • Biggest drawback: you are buying into a puck system, and the claims about chemical safety go further than they should.
  • Our score: 5.8 out of 10, with the lowest marks for price over time and claim accuracy.

Pros & cons

The Aroma Amplifier solves real problems with candles and oil diffusers. It is genuinely flameless, genuinely waterless and genuinely easy. What it does not do is make fragrance itself harmless, and the price of the device is only the start of what you will spend.

What we like

  • No flame, heat, water or wax, so no candle fire risk, no spills and no mouldy reservoir to clean
  • Rechargeable, with up to 22 hours per charge according to the brand, so it can move between rooms, the office and the car
  • Three fan speeds and adjustable airflow let you set the strength
  • Swapping scents takes seconds, and there are around 20 to choose from, plus unscented pucks for your own oils
  • Pucks are made in the USA and stated to be free of phthalates, PFAS and parabens

What we don't

  • Each puck costs $14.99 and lasts up to 200 hours, so daily use can run to well over $100 a year
  • Fragrance is still fragrance: scented products can bother people with asthma, allergies or chemical sensitivity
  • 'Safe for pets' needs care: cats are sensitive to some fragrance compounds and essential oils
  • The 1,000 sq ft coverage claim depends on the room, the fan speed and the scent
  • No independent owner rating we could find, only reviews on the brand's own pages

How it works

The Aroma Amplifier is a fan diffuser, sometimes called an evaporative or passive diffuser. Similar designs are used in cars and offices. What sets this one apart is the dry, solid puck instead of a pad soaked in oil.

  1. A scented puck sits inside

Step 1: Each AromaPuck is a dry, porous disc made from minerals and infused with fragrance; you drop it into the base of the Amplifier.

  2. A quiet fan moves air across it

Step 2: A small fan pulls air past the puck and out through the gap under the lid; the fragrance evaporates from the puck into that airflow.

  3. You set the strength

Step 3: Three fan speeds and an adjustable opening control how much air passes the puck, so you can scent a small bedroom lightly or push more fragrance into a large room.

Because nothing is heated or burned, the fragrance evaporates at room temperature. That means no smoke or soot, and it also means scent strength depends on airflow and the puck's age rather than on a flame or heater.

Who it's for

The Aroma Amplifier suits people who enjoy scented candles but worry about leaving a flame burning, people with young children who knock things over, and anyone who has given up on ultrasonic diffusers because of the refilling, cleaning and mould. It also suits people who like to change scents with their mood, since pucks swap in seconds, and those who want to carry a familiar scent to the office or a hotel room.

It is not for people who react to fragrance, homes where cats or birds share the air, or anyone trying to fix a bad smell rather than mask it. And it is not for anyone who wants a one-off purchase, because it only works with pucks.

  • Candle lovers who want scent without an open flame, especially with children around or when leaving the house
  • People tired of refilling and cleaning ultrasonic oil diffusers
  • Anyone who wants to carry the same scent between home, office, hotel and car

Who should skip it

  • People with asthma, allergies or fragrance sensitivity who react to scented products
  • Homes with cats or birds, unless you use it away from them and check with your vet
  • Anyone who wants to remove odours rather than cover them; ventilation and cleaning do that
  • Budget buyers who will run it all day, every day; the pucks add up

What do you get with the Aroma Amplifier, and what does it cost?

The Amplifier is a small round unit in beige or black with a lift-off lid. Inside, a fan sits beneath a space for one puck. It has three fan speeds, an adjustable airflow opening and a rechargeable battery, and it can also run plugged in.

  • Hand holding a white AromaPuck disc embossed with the Aroma Therapist logo above the Amplifier

The AromaPucks

The pucks are dry discs, about the size of a coaster, embossed with the brand's logo. They come in resealable pouches, so you can take one out, use it, and seal it again to save the scent. The brand describes them as made from locally sourced minerals, biodegradable and free from phthalates, PFAS, parabens and endocrine disruptors.

There are around 20 scents on the brand's store, from fresh and citrus (Citrusly Juiced, Clean Shirt, Sea Salt Sage) to sweet (Coconut Float, Mallow Moods), woody (Cedar & Suede, Cozy Cashmere) and wellness-themed blends (Let Me Sleep, Inhale Peace, Be the Energy). Unscented pucks let you add your own essential oils.

Aroma Amplifier price and bundles

On 3 October 2026 the offer page our link opens showed:

Buy 3, get 2 free + 6 free pucks5 Amplifiers, 6 pucks$179.97, free shipping$389.93

The brand's own store sold the Amplifier alone for $59.99, and its starter bundle, an Amplifier with three pucks, for $89.99. If you want one Amplifier, that starter bundle is the better first buy, because one puck is not enough to find out which scents you like.

The real cost: pucks over a year

The device is a one-off; the pucks are not. At $14.99 for up to 200 hours, here is roughly what running it costs, based on the brand's stated puck life:

Daily usePucks per yearCost per year at $14.99With 25% subscription
2 hoursabout 4about $55about $41
4 hoursabout 7about $110about $82
8 hoursabout 15about $219about $164
12 hoursabout 22about $329about $246

If a puck fades sooner than 200 hours in your room, or you run the fan on high, the cost goes up. Running two or three Amplifiers in different rooms multiplies it.

Does it cost less than candles?

The page says one puck replaces 8 to 10 candles or $40 or more in oils. That depends entirely on the candles you buy. Against premium scented candles, which can cost $20 to $40 each, a $15 puck that lasts 200 hours is cheaper per hour. Against budget candles or a small bottle of essential oil, it may not be. Compare against what you actually buy now.

A quick way to compare: note how much you spend on candles, plug-in refills or oils in a typical month, and how many hours a day you have them going. Then use the table above for the same hours. If the Amplifier comes out similar or cheaper, the safety and convenience are a bonus; if it comes out much higher, decide whether no flame and no mess are worth the difference to you.

Subscriptions

The brand's store offers puck subscriptions at 25% off, delivered every 30, 60 or 90 days, plus themed subscriptions: a Mind & Body subscription of three pucks at $30 a shipment and a seasonal one at $30 a quarter or $110 a year. All say you can pause or cancel any time.

Who makes it

The Aroma Amplifier and AromaPucks are sold under the Aroma Therapist brand, through the brand's own online store and through the offer page our link opens, which runs on a third-party sales platform used by many direct-to-consumer brands. The brand also sells hand creams and seasonal scent boxes. The offer page says the pucks are made in the USA and promises shipping within 24 to 48 hours, with delivery in about 3 to 5 business days in the US.

Gifts and multi-packs

The multi-packs are built for gifting and multi-room homes: three Amplifiers with three pucks, or five with six. Divided up, the five-pack works out at about $36 per Amplifier with roughly one puck each. That is good value only if everyone you give one to will keep buying pucks, which is worth asking yourself before ordering five.

Are the Aroma Amplifier's claims true?

The Aroma Amplifier's mechanical claims are accurate: no flame, heat, water or wax, which removes the fire risk of candles. Its health claims need care. The pucks are stated to be free of phthalates, PFAS and parabens, but any fragrance works by releasing volatile organic compounds into the air, so "no toxic chemicals" and "safe for kids and pets" overstate it. Coverage up to 1,000 sq ft depends on the room.

Much of the sales page is accurate about what the device does mechanically. The claims about health and chemicals deserve a closer look.

"No flames, no heat, no water, no wax"

True, and this is the strongest reason to buy one. Candles cause thousands of home fires in the US every year, according to the National Fire Protection Association's candle safety guidance, often when left unattended or near something flammable. Ultrasonic diffusers need regular cleaning to stop bacteria and mould growing in the water tank. A fan and a dry puck avoid both problems.

"No toxic chemicals" and "no harmful chemicals"

This needs care. The pucks are stated to be free of phthalates, PFAS and parabens, which are reasonable things to leave out. But any fragrance, natural or synthetic, works by releasing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air; that is what you smell. The EPA notes that VOCs are a common indoor air pollutant and that scented products are one source.

Some common fragrance compounds, such as limonene in citrus scents, can also react with ozone indoors to form small amounts of formaldehyde and fine particles. The amounts from one small diffuser are likely to be modest, and we found no test of this product. The point is that "no flame" does not mean "nothing in the air but scent".

What the pucks are made of

The brand describes the pucks as made from high-quality, earth-kind minerals, locally sourced, and infused with fragrance. It does not publish a full ingredient list for the fragrance blends, which is common for fragrance products, since "fragrance" can legally cover many ingredients. If you have known fragrance allergies, such as to certain essential oils or synthetic musks, ask the brand for the specific scent's components before buying.

"Safe for kids and pets"

Removing flame, heat, hot wax and spillable oil does remove the most common accidents. Keep the pucks themselves away from small children and pets, as you would any fragranced product that could be chewed.

The airborne fragrance is a different matter for animals. The American SPCA warns that cats are especially sensitive to essential oils, because their livers lack an enzyme needed to break some compounds down, and that diffused oils can cause breathing problems, particularly in pets with asthma; its guidance on essential oils and pets recommends talking to your vet first. Birds are also highly sensitive to airborne irritants. The scented pucks' full ingredient lists are not published, so we cannot say which compounds they contain.

"Ideal for sensitive individuals" and asthma

The FAQ says the Amplifier is ideal for people with asthma, allergies and respiratory sensitivities because nothing is burned. Avoiding smoke and soot is a real benefit over candles. But surveys consistently find that a large minority of people with asthma report breathing problems from air fresheners and scented products, regardless of how the scent is delivered. The FAQ itself advises starting with a lighter fragrance if you are sensitive, which is the more honest advice.

"Patented 360° airflow" and "fills large rooms fast"

The page says patented 360° airflow scents up to 1,000 sq ft more evenly than candles or plug-ins. We could not find the patent. A fan does spread scent more actively than a candle or plug-in, which rely on heat and natural air movement. Whether one small unit scents 1,000 sq ft noticeably depends on ceiling height, ventilation, open doors and how strong you like it.

Sleep, energy and mood

The scents carry names like Let Me Sleep, Inhale Peace and Be the Energy, and one testimonial says the owner sleeps more soundly. Pleasant scents can make a room feel relaxing, and a bedtime routine that includes one can help some people wind down. Research on aromatherapy for sleep and mood is mixed and mostly small. Enjoy the scent; do not rely on it to treat insomnia.

If sleep is the main reason you are buying, the basics matter far more: a regular bedtime, a dark, cool room, less caffeine late in the day and less screen time before bed. A pleasant scent can be part of that routine. For ongoing insomnia, a doctor can help, and cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia has stronger evidence than any scent.

"Eco-friendly and made in the USA"

The brand says the pucks are biodegradable, made in the USA from locally sourced minerals, and shipped in recyclable packaging. We could not verify these claims independently. A reusable device with small refills is plausibly less wasteful than jar candles or plastic plug-in refills, though the pouches and the rechargeable battery are waste too eventually.

What is the Aroma Amplifier like to live with?

Day to day, the Aroma Amplifier is simple: charge it, drop in a puck, close the lid and choose one of three fan speeds. It is quiet, runs up to 22 hours per charge or plugged in, and moves between rooms easily. Start on the lowest setting, because your nose adapts to a scent quickly, and remember that fragrance covers odours rather than removing them.

In a living room. Image: Aroma Therapist

Day-to-day use is where the Amplifier's design pays off, and where the puck system shapes your experience.

Setting it up

There is little to set up. Charge it, lift the lid, drop in a puck, replace the lid and choose a fan speed. Place it at about waist height or higher in the room you want to scent, away from open windows that will carry the scent outside.

Choosing the right setting

Start on the lowest fan speed with the airflow partly closed, and turn it up only if you cannot smell it after 15 to 20 minutes. Our noses get used to a scent quickly, a process called olfactory fatigue, so after a while you may stop noticing it even though guests will. That is a common reason people turn diffusers up too high.

Scent strength over a puck's life

The FAQ says owners find the scent strong for the first 150 hours or so, then lighter in the final 50. You can turn the fan up as the puck ages to keep the same strength. When you cannot smell it on the highest setting, the puck is finished.

Battery and portability

Up to 22 hours per charge is enough for a few evenings of use, or a workday in an office. At higher fan speeds expect less. Because it can run plugged in, you can leave it on a charger in the room you use most and unplug it to move it.

Noise

Reviewers on the brand's page describe it as very quiet, and the brand calls the fan whisper-quiet. A small fan on its lowest speed is usually inaudible over normal room noise; on its highest, you may hear a soft hum in a silent bedroom.

Using several rooms

Many households buy more than one, which is what the multi-packs are for. You might keep a calm scent in the bedroom and something fresh in the kitchen. Remember that each extra Amplifier needs its own pucks, and running costs multiply.

Where to put it

Air moves through a home in patterns: from warm to cool, toward open doors and out of vents and extractor fans. Put the Amplifier where air drifts toward the space you sit in, not right next to a window or bathroom fan. In a living room, a shelf or side table near where you sit works well; in a bedroom, a dresser across from the bed is better than right beside your pillow.

Covering odours vs removing them

The Amplifier adds scent; it does not remove smells. Pet, cooking, damp or smoke odours come from sources that stay put, and adding fragrance on top can make a room smell like both. Clean the source, ventilate, and use an extractor fan or a HEPA and carbon air purifier for persistent odours. Then add scent if you still want it.

Is the Aroma Amplifier better than candles, plug-ins or diffusers?

The Aroma Amplifier wins over scented candles on safety, with no flame, smoke or soot, while candles win on ambience and, at the budget end, cost. Compared with ultrasonic diffusers, it needs no water or cleaning. Plug-ins and reed diffusers cost less upfront. The Amplifier's drawback is the running cost: each $14.99 puck lasts up to 200 hours, and it still releases fragrance into the air.

Here is how the Amplifier compares with the home fragrance options most buyers are choosing between.

Aroma Amplifier vs scented candles

The Amplifier wins on safety and on not producing smoke or soot. Candles win on ambience, choice and, at the budget end, cost. If you love the look of a flame, a battery LED candle next to an Amplifier gives you both without the fire.

Aroma Amplifier vs plug-ins

Plug-in air fresheners are cheap and always on, which is convenient but means constant fragrance and constant gentle heat. The Amplifier can be switched off and moved, and its fragrance is easier to control. Over a year, plug-in refills and pucks can cost a similar amount.

Aroma Amplifier vs ultrasonic diffusers

Ultrasonic diffusers turn water and oil into a fine mist. They also add humidity, can leave a film on nearby furniture, and need regular cleaning to prevent bacterial growth. The Amplifier avoids all of that. Fans of specific essential oil blends may prefer an ultrasonic diffuser, though the unscented pucks let you use your own oils in the Amplifier too.

Aroma Amplifier vs other fan diffusers

Fan diffusers that blow air over an oil-soaked pad or a scented cartridge are sold by many brands, including in car and office versions. Their running cost depends on the refills, which are usually proprietary, as AromaPucks are. Before choosing any of them, check the refill price, how long refills last and whether you can use your own oils.

Aroma Amplifier vs reed diffusers

Reed diffusers are cheap, silent and need no power, but they are weak in large rooms and can spill. The Amplifier is stronger, adjustable and spill-proof, at a higher running cost.

Is the Aroma Amplifier legit, and what should you check before buying?

The Aroma Amplifier is a real product, but we found no Trustpilot profile or independent owner rating, only reviews on the brand's own page. Before buying, budget for pucks, test one on the lowest setting if anyone at home has asthma, allergies or scent-triggered migraines, and take care with cats, which are sensitive to some fragrance compounds. Check the guarantee terms and keep your packaging.

The Aroma Amplifier is low-risk in itself. The main things to plan for are fragrance sensitivity, pets, and the ongoing cost of pucks.

Fragrance sensitivity in your household

If anyone in your home has asthma, allergies, migraines triggered by smells or chemical sensitivity, a scented device may bother them, however it is delivered.

What to do: test one puck on the lowest setting, in a ventilated room, for short periods, and stop if anyone gets a headache, cough, wheeze or watery eyes.

Pets

Cats, birds and pets with breathing problems are the most sensitive to fragrance in the air.

What to do: use it in rooms your pets can leave, keep it on low, never use it in a small closed room with a pet, and talk to your vet first if you have a cat or bird. Store pucks out of reach so they cannot be chewed.

Babies and young children

The brand shows the Amplifier in a nursery. Babies breathe faster than adults and spend long periods in one room. There is no specific evidence of harm from this device, but many paediatric sources advise keeping nurseries fragrance-free.

What to do: consider leaving it out of a baby's room, or use it only briefly with the door open, never overnight.

Battery safety

The Amplifier has a rechargeable battery, like a phone. The offer page does not say how it charges or what charger to use.

What to do: use the cable supplied or a reputable charger, do not charge it on a bed or soft furnishing, and stop using it if it becomes hot, swollen or damaged.

The puck commitment

The Amplifier only works with AromaPucks, so you are committing to buying them.

What to do: work out your likely yearly cost from the table above before buying, and if you go ahead, subscribe at 25% off only once you know which scents you like.

Returns and guarantee

The offer page promises a 30-day money-back guarantee with no complicated forms or questions. Returns start through an order lookup on the offer site. Used pucks are unlikely to be returnable, and the page does not say who pays return postage.

What to do: keep the box, test the Amplifier and one or two scents in the first two weeks, and keep unused pucks sealed in case you return them.

How to buy the Aroma Amplifier the smart way

  1. Decide how many hours a day you will run it and estimate the yearly puck cost. Then open the Aroma Amplifier order page (opens Aroma Therapist in a new tab) and compare it with the brand's own starter bundle.
  2. For one room, choose a single Amplifier; a bundle with a few pucks lets you try more than one scent.
  3. Pick scents you already know you like, such as citrus or fresh linen, before trying unusual blends.
  4. Check the order summary for subscriptions or add-ons you did not choose.
  5. Save your order confirmation. The 30-day guarantee starts from your order.
  6. Test it in the first two weeks, on low, in the room you plan to use it in, and decide well before day 30.

What do owners say, and how did we score the Aroma Amplifier?

The Aroma Amplifier scores 5.8 out of 10: claim accuracy 0.9, build durability 1.2, price competitiveness 1.0, usability 1.6 and owner satisfaction 1.1, each out of 2. The offer page shows 170 reviews and five-star testimonials praising how quickly a home smells good, easy scent swaps, quiet running and pet odour cover. We found no Trustpilot profile or independent rating.

The offer page shows a review count of 170 and a handful of five-star testimonials. We found no Trustpilot profile or other independent rating for the brand.

The testimonials on the page

The testimonials praise how quickly a home starts to smell good, how easy it is to swap scents without them blending, how quiet it is, how well it covers pet smells, and that it makes a good gift. One owner says they sleep more soundly with it. These are positive, believable accounts of a pleasant product, chosen by the seller.

What we would expect owners to report

From the design and similar products, we would expect most owners to like the convenience and the lack of mess, and many to buy several. We would also expect some to find the scent too faint in large or draughty rooms, some to notice pucks fading before 200 hours, and some to be surprised by the ongoing cost of pucks.

Third-party coverage

Pages ranking for Aroma Amplifier reviews are mainly marketplace and product-listing pages repeating the brand's descriptions, and some appear on unrelated sites. None we found had used it. Treat them as advertising.

Why the lack of independent ratings matters

For a product you will keep buying refills for, owner experience over months matters more than first impressions. Without an independent rating, we cannot tell you how often pucks fade early, how long the battery lasts after a year, or how support handles faulty units. That uncertainty is reflected in the owner satisfaction score, and it is one more reason to start small and buy more only once you are sure.

How we scored the Aroma Amplifier

Every score on the site follows the five criteria on our how we test page.

CriterionScoreWhy
Claim accuracy0.9 / 2Flameless and waterless claims true; "no harmful chemicals", pet, asthma and coverage claims overstated
Build durability1.2 / 2Simple fan and battery; no stated lifespan or warranty details on the offer page
Price competitiveness1.0 / 2Fair device price; puck costs reach $100 to $200+ a year with daily use
Usability1.6 / 2Easy, quiet, portable, quick scent swaps
Owner satisfaction1.1 / 2Positive on-page reviews only; no independent rating found
Total5.8 / 10

The score would rise with published ingredient lists for the pucks, independent owner ratings and softer safety claims.

What we did, and did not, do

Nobody on our team has used the Aroma Amplifier, and this review does not claim otherwise. We read the offer page our link opens and its FAQ, the brand's store data for prices, puck details and subscriptions, the EPA's page on indoor VOCs, the American SPCA's guidance on essential oils and pets, and the NFPA's candle safety page, all on 3 October 2026. We also looked at the pages that rank for the product to see what they cover and miss.

How to use the Aroma Amplifier for the best results

Charge the Amplifier fully or run it plugged in, then lift the lid, place one AromaPuck in the base and close it. Start on the lowest fan speed with the airflow partly open, and wait 15 to 20 minutes before turning it up, because your nose adapts to scent. Run it only when you want fragrance, and store spare pucks sealed in their pouches to make them last.

The Amplifier, with the lid raised to show the airflow gap. Image: Aroma Therapist
  1. Charge the Amplifier fully before first use, or run it plugged in.
  2. Lift the lid, place one AromaPuck in the base, and replace the lid.
  3. Start on the lowest fan speed with the airflow partly open, in the room you want to scent.
  4. Wait 15 to 20 minutes before turning it up; your nose adapts to scent quickly.
  5. Place it at waist height or above, away from open windows and air vents that will carry scent away.
  6. Turn it off when you leave the room or go to bed, and seal the puck in its pouch if you will not use it for a while.
  7. As a puck ages, raise the fan speed to keep the strength; replace it when you cannot smell it on high.

Making pucks last longer

Run the fan only when you want scent, keep the lid closed when it is off, and store spare pucks sealed in their pouches in a cool, dark place. Rotating two or three pucks between rooms, as many owners do, does not use less scent overall but lets each one rest in its pouch.

Using your own oils with unscented pucks

Add a few drops of essential oil to an unscented puck, let it absorb, then place it in the Amplifier. Use less than you think, since a puck holds scent well. Avoid oils known to be risky for pets if you have them, such as tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus and peppermint around cats, and never add oil directly into the device.

Cleaning

There is no water tank to clean. Wipe the outside with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and dust the vents occasionally so the fan moves air freely. Do not wash the device or get water inside it.

In the car

Secure it where it cannot slide, such as in a cup holder or on a non-slip mat, and keep the scent low. Do not leave it, or pucks, in a hot car in summer, which can damage the battery and drive off fragrance quickly.

In the office

Ask colleagues first. Shared workplaces often include people with fragrance sensitivity or asthma, and some offices have fragrance-free policies. A desk unit on low is far less intrusive than a candle or spray, but it is still scent in a shared space.

Travelling with it

The Amplifier's battery and small size make it easy to take to a hotel room. Pack it with a puck sealed in its pouch so your bag does not smell of it. Battery rules for flights generally allow small devices with built-in batteries in cabin baggage; check your airline's rules if you are unsure.

When the scent seems too strong

Turn the fan down, partly close the airflow, or move the Amplifier further from where you sit. If it is still too strong on the lowest setting, run it for shorter periods, such as half an hour before guests arrive, then switch it off. A lighter scent family, such as fresh linen rather than vanilla or musk, also helps.

What else do people ask about flameless diffusers?

Most questions are about safety and strength. Flameless diffusers remove the fire risk of candles and produce no smoke or soot, but they still release fragrance compounds, so they are not risk-free for people sensitive to scent. The safest way to make a home smell nice is to remove bad smells, ventilate and clean. Fan diffusers spread scent well in bedrooms and living rooms, less so in big open spaces.

Are flameless diffusers safer than candles?

For fire, yes: no flame means no candle fire risk, and no smoke or soot. For indoor air, they still release fragrance compounds, so they are not risk-free for people sensitive to scent.

What is the safest way to make a home smell nice?

Removing the source of bad smells, ventilating and cleaning are the safest. After that, low-intensity, unheated options such as a fan diffuser on low, a reed diffuser or fresh flowers add scent with less in the air than candles or sprays.

Do fan diffusers work in big rooms?

They spread scent better than passive options, but large, open-plan or draughty spaces need a higher setting or more than one unit. Expect strong scent in a bedroom or living room, and a lighter one across a big open space.

Why can I not smell my diffuser any more?

Usually because your nose has adapted. Step outside for a few minutes and come back, or ask someone else. If no one can smell it on high, the puck or refill is finished.

Are essential oils better than synthetic fragrance?

Not necessarily. "Natural" essential oils also release VOCs and can trigger allergies and irritate the airways, and some are more toxic to pets than common synthetic fragrance ingredients. The dose and the person or pet matter more than whether the scent is natural.

Can scented products cause headaches?

Yes, for some people. Fragrance is a common migraine trigger, and surveys of people with asthma or chemical sensitivity report headaches from air fresheners. If scent gives you headaches, lower the strength or stop using it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Aroma Amplifier actually work?

Yes, in the sense that a fan blowing across a scented puck will scent a room. How strongly depends on the room size, the fan speed, the scent and how fresh the puck is. The brand says it covers up to 1,000 sq ft; a typical bedroom or living room is more realistic for a strong scent.

How much do AromaPucks cost?

On 3 October 2026 the brand's store sold scented AromaPucks at $14.99 each and unscented pucks at $13.99, with 25% off on a subscription. Each puck lasts up to 200 hours according to the brand, so running it eight hours a day uses about one puck every three to four weeks.

How much does the Aroma Amplifier cost?

On 3 October 2026 the offer page showed $59.99 plus shipping for one Amplifier with a free puck, $119.98 for three Amplifiers and three pucks, and $179.97 for five Amplifiers and six pucks, with free shipping on the multi-packs. The brand's own store sold the Amplifier alone for $59.99 and a starter bundle with three pucks for $89.99.

Is the Aroma Amplifier safe for pets?

It removes the burn and spill risks of candles and oil diffusers. But pets, especially cats, can be sensitive to fragrance compounds and essential oils in the air. Use it in rooms your pets can leave, on a low setting, and stop if a pet sneezes, coughs, drools or seems unwell. Ask your vet first if you have a cat or bird.

Is the Aroma Amplifier safe for people with asthma?

No flame means no smoke or soot, which helps. But it still releases fragrance into the air, and many people with asthma report breathing problems from scented products. If fragrances bother you, test it on the lowest setting in a ventilated room, or skip it.

How long does an AromaPuck last?

The brand says up to 200 hours, with strong scent for about the first 150 hours and a lighter scent after that. Keeping unused pucks in their resealable pouch and running the fan only when you want scent makes each puck last longer.

Can I use my own essential oils?

Yes. The brand sells unscented AromaPucks that you add your own essential oils or fragrance to. Be cautious with oils around pets, especially cats, and with children, and never put oil directly into the Amplifier itself. Use only a few drops.

Can I use it in my car?

The brand says yes, since it is rechargeable and cordless. Make sure it is secured so it cannot slide or fall while driving, keep it out of direct sun in a hot car, and keep the scent light so it does not distract or bother passengers.
