The Best Home Accessories of 2026

Home accessories sold through offer pages promise spa showers, perfect sleep and a home that smells like a hotel. A few deliver a smaller version of that for a fair price, and the rest charge too much for too little. We ranked the 10 home accessories we have reviewed and kept the four that scored 5.5 or higher, do their main job according to evidence beyond the seller's page, and are backed by a guarantee or warranty. The order follows the review scores, and each pick lists what it costs to keep running, because for two of the four that matters as much as the price.

Best Overall

01NUUD Showerhead

NUUD

$89.99
Filters
$33 every 2 to 3 months

6.7 / 10

Key features

  • Three-stage filter: KDF-55, calcium sulfite and coconut carbon
  • Three spray modes plus stream; chrome, black or brushed nickel
  • Filter lasts 2 to 3 months or about 10,000 gallons, per the FAQ

Why it made the list

  • Installs by hand on standard shower arms
  • Three spray modes plus a stream mode
  • Lifetime manufacturer warranty, per the page

What we like

  • Three-stage cartridge (KDF-55, calcium sulfite, coconut carbon) uses media commonly used to reduce chlorine
  • Installs by hand in a few minutes on standard North American shower arms
  • Three spray modes plus a stream mode, in chrome, black or brushed nickel

What we don't

  • "Filters 99% of chlorine, heavy metals and chemicals" has no published test or NSF/ANSI 177 certification we could find
  • "Clears acne" and "89% thicker hair" rest on the company's own consumer survey
  • Does not soften hard water, and carbon and KDF are less effective against chloramine

Skip it if: Your problem is hard water scale. NUUD does not soften water, and filters add about $132 to $198 a year.

White GuideLight outlet cover on a grey wall with a soft LED glow shining down from its lower edge

  • Duplex or Décor style (offer page)
  • No batteries; powered from outlet screws

Why it made the list

  • Automatic dusk-to-dawn sensor
  • No batteries, bulbs or new wiring
  • 30-day money-back guarantee, 1-year warranty

What we like

  • Built into the outlet cover, so both sockets stay free and nothing sticks out
  • Automatic dusk-to-dawn sensor; soft downward light for hallways, bathrooms and stairs
  • No batteries, bulbs or new wiring; uses very little power, according to the brand

What we don't

  • Only fits standard duplex or Décor outlets with side screw terminals; the offer page did not offer a GFCI version
  • You must switch off the breaker and check there is room for the prongs inside the box
  • Not for split or switched outlets, outlets on two circuits, wet locations, or boxes with phone or data wiring

Skip it if: You are not comfortable switching off a breaker, or your outlets are GFCI, split or switched.

Bed Scrunchie retail box with the white elastic band, clips and drawcord in front of it

Best for Deep Mattresses

03Bed Scrunchie

6.1/10$50

An elastic band with clips that pulls a fitted sheet tight from under the mattress, so it stops popping off the corners overnight.

Price
$49.99
Score
6.1 / 10

  • Drawcord tightener with lock
  • Fits all bed sizes, machine washable

Why it made the list

  • Works with toppers and deep mattresses
  • One size for all beds, machine washable
  • 100-night guarantee

What we like

  • Pulls a fitted sheet tight from all sides, which hands-on reviewers say stops it popping off overnight
  • Works with toppers, deep mattresses and adjustable beds, where ordinary fitted sheets struggle
  • Can turn a flat sheet into a fitted one, or extend a fitted sheet that is too shallow

What we don't

  • Clips and cord take some practice, and you unclip and reclip every time you change the sheets
  • Comes with 8 clips; larger and deeper beds may need more, sold separately
  • $49.99 on the offer page versus $35 to $39.95 elsewhere on the day we checked

Skip it if: You change sheets often and do not want an extra unclip-and-reclip step, or the clips would be hard on your hands.

Best Flameless Scent

04Aroma Amplifier

A quiet, rechargeable fan that blows air over a scented mineral puck, for home fragrance without a candle's flame or a diffuser to clean.

Best for: Candle lovers with kids around

Type
Fan diffuser

Aroma Therapist
Price
$59.99
Pucks
$14.99 per 200 hours

5.8 / 10

Why it made the list

  • No flame, heat, water or wax
  • Up to 22 hours per charge, per the brand
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

What we like

  • No flame, heat, water or wax, so no candle fire risk, no spills and no mouldy reservoir to clean
  • Rechargeable, with up to 22 hours per charge according to the brand, so it can move between rooms, the office and the car
  • Three fan speeds and adjustable airflow let you set the strength

What we don't

  • Each puck costs $14.99 and lasts up to 200 hours, so daily use can run to well over $100 a year
  • Fragrance is still fragrance: scented products can bother people with asthma, allergies or chemical sensitivity
  • 'Safe for pets' needs care: cats are sensitive to some fragrance compounds and essential oils

Skip it if: Anyone at home has asthma or fragrance sensitivity, or you keep cats or birds.

What separates the four from the rest

We have reviewed 10 home accessories, and six of them scored below 5.5. Most of those six are not useless. They lost points because their offer pages promise far more than the product can do, such as a personal cooler that "cools the room" or a stone bath mat that is "100% safe" with no test results to show it, and because several cost noticeably more than the same thing elsewhere.

The four picks each do one job and have evidence for it beyond the seller's page. GuideLight comes from SnapPower, an established Utah company whose lighted cover plates are sold widely. The NUUD shower head uses the same chlorine-reducing media as many filtered heads, KDF-55, calcium sulfite and coconut carbon, even though its bigger claims have no published test behind them. The Bed Scrunchie has hands-on reviewers who say it keeps sheets on deep beds, and the Aroma Amplifier does the simple thing it promises, blowing air over a scented puck, even if its "safe for everyone" wording goes too far.

The running costs nobody puts in the headline

Two of the four cost more to keep than to buy. NUUD's filters need changing every 2 to 3 months, and at $33 each in NUUD's own store that adds about $132 to $198 a year, more than the shower head itself. A filter you stop replacing does nothing, so only buy it if you will keep up.

The Aroma Amplifier's pucks cost $14.99 and last up to 200 hours each. Three hours every evening uses about five pucks a year, roughly $80. Daily use for longer runs well over $100 a year, so match the fan speed and hours to what you actually want.

GuideLight and the Bed Scrunchie have no running costs. GuideLight uses very little power, according to SnapPower, and the Bed Scrunchie only needs extra clips if your bed is larger or deeper than the eight included clips can handle.

Close calls and clear misses

Just below the bar, evaCHILL (5.4) is a well-made personal cooler from Evapolar that helps if you sit close to it in dry heat, but it is no substitute for air conditioning and was cheaper in Evapolar's own store. MatMend (5.1) is pleasant underfoot, but stone mats lose absorbency, can crack, and similar mats were recalled in Japan and Taiwan in 2020 after asbestos was found.

Further down, the ICE Box document box (4.5), BrightTouch Max lights (4.0), IOnic Spa Shower (3.7) and BigTime Pro clock (3.4) were held back by price, missing specifications and claims they cannot back up. Browse every review in our home accessories category, and see our best household gadgets guide for cleaning and laundry gadgets that do their job.

The bottom line

If you are on chlorinated city water and dislike how your skin or hair feels after a shower, the NUUD is the pick, as long as you budget for a new filter every few months. GuideLight is the best value here and the one most homes would use every night, provided your outlets are a standard type. Bed Scrunchie fixes one specific annoyance well, but shop around first, because it was cheaper elsewhere. The Aroma Amplifier is a safer swap for candles, not a healthier one: fragrance is still fragrance. None of the four will transform your home, but each makes one part of it work a little better.

Frequently asked questions

Is the NUUD shower head worth it?

For people on chlorinated city water who notice a chlorine smell or dry skin and hair, yes. It uses standard chlorine-reducing media, installs by hand, and cost $89.99 on the offer page against $129 in NUUD's store. Its claims about removing 99% of contaminants, clearing acne and thickening hair are not independently backed, it does not soften hard water, and replacement filters cost $33 each every 2 to 3 months.

Can I install GuideLight myself?

Usually, if you are comfortable switching off the breaker and removing an outlet cover. It fits standard duplex and Décor outlets with side screw terminals and needs room in the box for its prongs. It is not for GFCI, split or switched outlets, outlets on two circuits, or wet locations. If you are unsure, hire an electrician.

Is a fan diffuser safer than candles?

It removes the fire risk of an open flame and the mould risk of a water reservoir, which is a real gain with children around. It does not remove fragrance from the air, so it can still bother people with asthma or allergies, and cats are sensitive to some fragrance compounds. Use it in rooms pets can leave, on a low setting.

Why are the evaCHILL cooler and MatMend bath mat not on this list?

Both scored below our 5.5 bar. evaCHILL (5.4) is a well-made personal cooler, but it cools a person rather than a room, works poorly in humid weather, and cost $99 on the offer page when Evapolar's own store listed it at $72. MatMend (5.1) loses absorbency over time, can crack, and its page shows no asbestos test results, a known problem with some diatomaceous earth mats.

Are offer-page prices higher than buying elsewhere?

Sometimes. NUUD and the larger GuideLight bundles were cheaper on the offer page than in the brands' own stores when we checked, while the Bed Scrunchie was $10 to $15 cheaper elsewhere. Each full review lists the prices we found on the day we checked.
