Blissy Silk Pillowcase Review: Who It Suits and How to Buy It Smart

A 22-momme mulberry silk pillowcase with a hidden zipper. The silk is the right spec and owners mostly love it, but the price is high and the return policy is stricter than the banner.

Our verdict

Yes, if tangles, frizz or morning creases bother you and you buy at the offer price. The Blissy silk pillowcase is 22-momme, grade 6A mulberry silk with a hidden zipper, and more than 5,800 Trustpilot reviewers rate it 4.5 out of 5. People with curly or treated hair, and face sleepers, are the ones who notice the difference. It scores 6.5 out of 10 because the same silk costs half as much elsewhere, the "clinical" figures are self-reported, and the written refund policy only covers unused cases. Buy one at $69.95, not the four-pack, and decide before you open it.

The short version

  • A 100 percent mulberry silk pillowcase, 22 momme, grade 6A, with a hidden zipper and a gift box.
  • $69.95 for a Standard or Queen case on the offer page our link opens, $79.95 for a King, free shipping.
  • Best trait: lower friction than cotton, which genuinely reduces tangles and sleep creases.
  • Biggest drawback: the price, and a refund policy that excludes used and sale items.
  • Our score: 6.5 out of 10, with the lowest marks for price and claim accuracy.

Pros & cons

Blissy made a good pillowcase and then priced and marketed it like a cosmetic. The silk earns its place; the price per case, the study claims and the return terms pull the score down.

What we like

  • 22-momme, grade 6A mulberry silk, the heavy end of what consumer pillowcases use
  • Lower friction than cotton, which reduces hair tangles and morning sleep creases
  • Hidden zipper keeps the case on the pillow, unlike envelope closures
  • OEKO-TEX certified fabric, tested for harmful substances
  • Strong owner ratings: 4.5 out of 5 from more than 5,800 Trustpilot reviews

What we don't

  • $69.95 for one queen case on the offer page, against $30 to $50 for comparable silk elsewhere
  • The written refund policy requires unused items in original packaging and excludes sale items
  • The zipper is the most common failure point in owner complaints
  • The 'clinically shown' results are self-reported percentages from a study Blissy commissioned
  • Needs cold, gentle washing with a silk detergent and air drying

How it works

Every silk pillowcase claim comes back to one property: the surface is smooth and does not soak up moisture. The three steps below explain what that does and does not do.

  1. Smooth fibre, less friction

Step 1: Silk fibre is smooth at the microscopic level, so hair and skin slide across it instead of catching; that lower friction is the mechanism behind every hair and skin claim the product makes.

  2. Less moisture pulled from you

Step 2: Silk absorbs less moisture than cotton, so more of your night cream and your hair's natural oils stay on you rather than soaking into the fabric overnight.

  3. 22 momme means a denser weave

Step 3: Momme is silk's weight measure; 22 momme is denser, more opaque and more durable than the 19-momme cases most budget brands use.

Who it's for

The Blissy case suits you if your hair is the problem: curls that frizz, long hair that knots, colour-treated or fine hair that breaks. It also suits side and front sleepers who wake with a crease on one cheek. And it is one of the easier sleep gifts to buy, because a pillowcase only has to match a pillow size.

  • People with curly, long, fine or colour-treated hair who wake up with tangles or frizz
  • Side and front sleepers who notice pillow creases on their face in the morning
  • Gift buyers who want a sleep upgrade that needs no sizing beyond the pillow

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who just wants 22-momme silk at the lowest price; the same grade costs a half or a third as much
  • Buyers who would rely on returning a used case; the written policy requires unused items
  • Households that wash everything together on hot and tumble dry

Why do people like the Blissy pillowcase?

The appeal is a small, visible change for very little effort. Swap one pillowcase and most people with curly or long hair notice less frizz and fewer knots within a few mornings. Nothing else in the sleep products we review shows its effect that quickly.

The details are well chosen. 22 momme is the right weight for a pillowcase: heavier than the 19-momme silk most cheap cases use, so it is more opaque and wears better. The hidden zipper on the short edge keeps the case taut on the pillow, which matters because a loose case bunches up and creases your face anyway. The fabric is OEKO-TEX certified, and Blissy says it uses non-toxic dyes.

It also works as a gift. Each case comes in a branded box, sizes are simple, and there are dozens of colours and prints in the main store. That is a large part of why Blissy sells in Target stores as well as online. You can compare it with the other sleep products we review.

There is a household benefit too. If your partner is the one with the curls, the case changes their mornings without changing anything else about your bed.

How to buy Blissy the smart way

  1. Open the Blissy offer page (opens Blissy in a new tab) and choose your colour and pillow size.
  2. Pick the single case. The page leads with the four-pack; one is enough to find out if silk suits you.
  3. Ignore the "checking warehouses" animation, the "sell-out risk" label and the purchase pop-ups.
  4. Check the total before paying: $69.95 for a Queen with free shipping.
  5. When it arrives, decide before you open the inner packaging. The written policy only refunds unused items.

Does silk really help hair and skin?

For hair, yes, and it is easy to see. Cotton fibres catch on hair as you turn over; silk does not, so curly, long and bleached hair wakes up with fewer tangles and less frizz. That matches what owners say most often and what independent reviewers report. The case will not repair damaged hair. It stops the night from adding to the damage.

For skin, the honest answer is "a little". Less friction means fewer pressure creases in the morning, and silk soaks up less of your night cream than cotton does. That is a comfort and convenience benefit, not a treatment.

Blissy goes further. Its store says it is the only silk pillowcase "clinically shown to improve hair and skin in just 4 weeks", and lists results after 28 nights: 94 percent said they had less frizz and breakage, 92 percent said their skin was more hydrated, and 70 percent noticed fewer fine lines. A trade report attributes the study to Princeton Consumer Research, a contract testing company.

Two things to know: the wording ("said", "noticed") describes what participants reported, not measurements, and the number of participants and the method are not published. Read the percentages as customer satisfaction, not clinical proof.

The checkout makes bigger claims still: "anti dust mites", "eliminate allergies" and "get younger while you sleep". No evidence is offered for those, and we would not buy a pillowcase for them.

Is Blissy better than a cheaper silk pillowcase?

On fabric alone, no. 22-momme, grade 6A mulberry silk with OEKO-TEX certification is sold by several brands for $30 to $50 a case, and you will not feel a difference on the pillow. What Blissy adds is the hidden zipper, a gift box, a huge colour range, availability in Target stores, and a brand many people recognise as a gift.

Satin is the budget fallback: it is smooth, so it helps with frizz, but it does not breathe like silk and feels warmer. If you just want silk against your hair, a budget 22-momme case does the job and leaves money for better sheets or a pillow that suits how you sleep. If you want the zipper, the box and the name, Blissy at the offer price is a reasonable buy. If you are choosing between this case and a new pillow, Sleepgram vs Blissy sets out which to buy first.

If stale-smelling pillowcases bother you more than frizz, our Blissy vs Miracle pillowcases comparison sets silk against silver-treated cotton.

Is Blissy legit, and what should you check before buying?

Blissy is a real, popular brand sold online and in Target stores, with a Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 5,857 reviews. But the checkout promises a 60-day refund if you are unsatisfied, while the written refund policy requires unused items in their original packaging. Before buying, decide whether to keep it before opening, buy one case rather than the four-pack, and ignore countdown-style pressure at checkout.

None of these rule Blissy out. Each one changes how you should buy it.

The guarantee and the policy disagree. The checkout says that if you are "unsatisfied for any reason within 60 days" you get a full refund. The written refund policy on blissy.com says items must be unused, in the same condition and in the original packaging; that only regular-priced items may be refunded, not sale items; and that you pay return shipping, which is deducted from any refund. The store product page calls it a "60-night guarantee". Since almost every offer is a sale, assume a case you have slept on is yours to keep, and keep the box unopened until you are sure.

The checkout uses pressure tactics. A "checking 2 warehouses" animation, "sell-out risk: high" labels, a promised gift card and pop-ups about other buyers are design choices, not stock levels. Take your time.

Care is not optional. Hot washes, enzyme detergents and tumble drying are how silk goes dull and stiff within months. One owner review on Blissy's own page warns that dye can bleed if a coloured case soaks too long, and one blog reviewer found that tinted skincare stains white silk.

The zipper is the weak point. It keeps the case on, but it is also what fails most often in owner reports. Zip it shut before washing and use a mesh bag.

What do owners and other reviewers say about Blissy?

Owners are mostly happy. Its Trustpilot profile showed a TrustScore of 4.5 from 5,857 reviews on 3 October 2026, with 76 percent five-star and 15 percent one-star. The praise is consistent: the feel of the silk, less frizz, gentler on skin, and good looks as a gift, with many repeat buyers. The complaints cluster around the zipper failing after months of use, the price, slow customer service and care being fiddly. Trustpilot also noted that Blissy had not replied to negative reviews.

You can read the reviews on the Trustpilot profile for blissy.com.

The top-ranking reviews are a mixed set. Of the six we read, one was a paid advertorial, one was sponsored, and one was written by a competing silk brand. The hands-on reviews agree on the hair benefit and disagree on value. The most useful practical warning came from a first-person review: white silk shows tinted skincare, so pick a darker colour if you use self-tan or tinted creams.

How we researched this review

Nobody on our team has slept on a Blissy pillowcase yet, and this review does not claim otherwise. Every score on the site follows the five criteria on our how we test page. For this review we read the checkout our link opens, the blissy.com product page and refund policy, the Trustpilot profile, a trade report on Blissy's Target launch and study, and the six Blissy reviews that ranked highest in search, all on 3 October 2026. The certification refers to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100; Blissy does not publish its certificate number.

How to use the Blissy pillowcase for the best results

Choose a darker colour if you use tinted skincare, self-tan or hair oils, because white shows marks. Before first use, wash the case cold on a gentle cycle with a pH-neutral silk detergent, zipper closed, in a mesh bag. Never leave a coloured case soaking, air dry it out of direct sun, and close the hidden zipper so the case stays taut and does not crease your face.

  1. Choose a darker colour if you use tinted skincare, self-tan or hair oils; white shows marks.
  2. Wash it cold on gentle with a pH-neutral silk detergent before first use, with the zipper closed, in a mesh bag.
  3. Never leave a coloured case soaking. Wash, rinse and hang it straight away.
  4. Air dry out of direct sun, and never tumble dry.
  5. Skip fabric softener, bleach and enzyme detergents; they strip the silk's finish.
  6. Rotate two cases if you wash weekly, so each is washed half as often.
  7. Pair it with a pillow of the right height for how you sleep, such as the adjustable Sleepgram pillow, and see our best sleep products guide for the other upgrades worth making. If falling asleep is the real problem, a pillowcase will not fix it; our Primal Sleep review covers what a supplement can do, and a snoring partner is a job for something like SleepZee.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Blissy pillowcase worth it?

It is worth it if tangles, frizz or sleep creases bother you and you value the zipper and gift packaging, because the silk is the right grade and owners rate it highly. It is not worth it if you only want 22-momme silk, which several brands sell for half the price, or if you would need to return it after using it.

Does the Blissy pillowcase really help hair and skin?

It reduces friction, which is the one thing silk does measurably better than cotton, so curly and treated hair tangles less and face sleepers get fewer creases. Blissy's clinical figures, such as 94 percent reporting less frizz, are self-reported results from a study it commissioned. No pillowcase reverses wrinkles or treats acne.

What is Blissy's return policy?

The checkout promises a refund if you are unsatisfied for any reason within 60 days. The written refund policy on blissy.com is stricter: items must be unused and in the original packaging, sale items cannot be refunded, and you pay return shipping. Treat a washed or slept-on case as a final sale.

What does 22 momme mean?

Momme is the weight of silk per unit of fabric, roughly like thread count for cotton. 19 momme is the common budget grade and 22 momme is denser, more opaque and more durable. Blissy uses 22-momme, grade 6A mulberry silk, the longest fibre grade, which is the right spec for a pillowcase.

How do I wash a Blissy pillowcase?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a pH-neutral liquid detergent made for silk, with no enzymes or bleach, then air dry out of direct sun. Zip it closed and use a mesh bag. Do not leave it soaking; an owner review on Blissy's own page warns that coloured cases can bleed dye.

Is Blissy legit?

Yes. Blissy is a Los Angeles company founded in 2017, and the product is real 22-momme mulberry silk sold online and in Target stores. The concerns are about the selling: urgency tactics on the checkout, unpublished study details and a refund policy narrower than the guarantee banner.

Is the Blissy pillowcase cooling?

It feels cool on first contact because silk draws heat from the skin, but it does not keep you cooler than cotton through the night. If you overheat, a breathable pillow and sheets do more than any pillowcase.
