LED teeth whitening kit

Quick answer

Yes, if you have mild to moderate yellowing or coffee and tea stains and want a gentle, easy at-home whitening kit. Laughland pairs hydrogen peroxide gel with a phone-powered blue LED mouthpiece, independent testers saw visible whitening with low sensitivity, and the starter kit costs $39.99 for six treatments.

Our verdict

Yes, if you have mild to moderate yellowing or coffee and tea stains and want a gentle, easy at-home whitening kit. Laughland pairs hydrogen peroxide gel with a phone-powered blue LED mouthpiece, independent testers saw visible whitening with low sensitivity, and the starter kit costs $39.99 for six treatments. But "7+ shades guaranteed", "100% success" and "zero sensitivity" rely on a small company trial, the light adds little, and buyers report surprise subscriptions. Laughland scores 5.6 out of 10, held back by overstated claims.

The short version

  • An at-home whitening kit: peroxide gel, a blue LED mouthpiece and a six-day routine.
  • The mouthpiece runs from your phone, with USB-C, Lightning and Micro-USB adapters.
  • Starter kit: 3 gel syringes for 6 treatments, $39.99 on 4 October 2026.
  • Premium 12-treatment kit $69.99; deluxe 24-treatment kit $119.99.
  • Independent testers measured about 2 VITA shade steps after six days, with low sensitivity.
  • Formulas reported at 8% to 11% hydrogen peroxide, plus a peroxide-free option.
  • Does not whiten crowns, veneers or bonding.
  • Best trait: easy, low-sensitivity whitening for everyday stains.
  • Biggest drawback: claims that promise more than independent tests found.
  • Our score: 5.6 out of 10.

Pros & cons

Laughland is a real brand with a credible basic approach. The cons are mostly about how results and safety are described, and about checkout.

What we like

  • Uses hydrogen peroxide, the same type of bleaching agent dentists use, at moderate strengths in Laughland's formulas
  • Short sessions and a six-day routine; independent testers saw visible whitening with low sensitivity
  • LED mouthpiece runs from your phone with USB-C, Lightning and Micro-USB adapters included
  • Real, widely covered brand with press reviews and award badges
  • Starter kit of 6 treatments for $39.99, with larger kits bringing the cost per treatment down

What we don't

  • "7+ shades in 6 days, guaranteed" goes beyond independent testing, which found about 2 shade steps on average
  • "100% success" and "zero sensitivity" come from a small company-run trial of 34 people reporting their own results
  • Research suggests blue lights add little to peroxide whitening and may increase sensitivity
  • Ingredient wording is muddled: sodium hydroxide described as soothing gums, and "clean, natural" alongside peroxide
  • Reviewers have reported being added to subscriptions they did not expect; check checkout carefully
  • Does not whiten veneers, crowns, bonding or fillings

How it works

Teeth look yellow or stained for two reasons: stains on or in the enamel from food, drink and smoking, and the natural colour of the dentine underneath, which shows through more as enamel thins with age. Peroxide whitening works by releasing oxygen that breaks down stain molecules inside the enamel, making teeth look lighter.

  1. Brush, dry and apply gel

Step 1: Brush your teeth, dry them gently, and apply a thin line of whitening gel from the syringe into the mouthpiece's tray.

  2. Wear the LED mouthpiece

Step 2: Put the mouthpiece in, plug it into your phone or a USB power source and leave it in for the treatment time, typically about 10 to 20 minutes.

  3. Repeat for six days

Step 3: Rinse after each session. Do not swallow the gel, and do not use it more often or for longer than directed. Keep the gel away from children. The kit's three syringes cover six treatments, with the main change expected after the full six days, according to the brand.

The gel

The page says the formula combines hydrogen peroxide with glycerin, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and other ingredients to reduce sensitivity and boost results. A later ingredients list adds sodium hydroxide and aloe vera. NewMouth's review lists Laughland formulas with 8% or 11% hydrogen peroxide, and a non-peroxide option with sodium bicarbonate for sensitive teeth. The offer page refers to an "8:16 formula", which appears to be the 8% version.

The LED mouthpiece

The mouthpiece is a tray with built-in blue LEDs, powered by a cable from your phone or a USB source. The page describes it as a curing light that catalyses the gel. The FAQ says the light alone does not change tooth colour.

Temperature control

The page explains that hydrogen peroxide breaks down in heat and says Laughland keeps its formula in temperature-controlled storage. That is a fair point about peroxide in general: gels stored warm for long periods can lose strength.

The routine

Each session lasts about 10 to 20 minutes, according to independent testing, for six days in a row. The kit's three syringes cover six treatments.

Why teeth change colour

Tooth colour comes from two layers. Enamel, the outer layer, is translucent and slightly bluish-white. Dentine, underneath, is naturally yellower. Teeth look whiter when enamel is thick and clean, and yellower as enamel wears thinner with age and dentine shows through more. On top of that, stains build up from coffee, tea, red wine, curry, tobacco and some mouthwashes.

Extrinsic and intrinsic stains

Dentists divide stains into extrinsic, on or near the surface, and intrinsic, inside the tooth. Extrinsic stains from food, drink and smoking respond well to cleaning and whitening. Intrinsic stains from certain antibiotics taken in childhood, excess fluoride, trauma or old root canal treatment respond poorly. Peroxide whitening can lighten some intrinsic discolouration, but results are slower and less predictable.

How long whitening lasts

Whitened teeth gradually pick up new stains, and some of the change may fade over weeks as the teeth rehydrate. Many people find results last several months with good habits, then need a top-up. People who drink a lot of coffee, tea or red wine, or smoke, usually need top-ups sooner.

Hydrogen peroxide vs carbamide peroxide

Many whitening products use carbamide peroxide, which breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and urea. As a rough guide, carbamide peroxide releases about a third of its strength as hydrogen peroxide, so a 10% carbamide gel is roughly equivalent to 3.5% hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide works faster; carbamide peroxide releases more slowly and is often gentler, which is why dentists often use it in overnight trays.

How strength and time trade off

Whitening results depend on both peroxide strength and how long the gel touches the teeth. Stronger gels work faster but are more likely to cause sensitivity. Weaker gels can reach similar results with longer or more frequent use. Laughland's short daily sessions with moderate-strength gels are a middle path.

Who it's for

Laughland suits adults with healthy teeth and gums who have mild to moderate yellowing or surface stains from coffee, tea, wine or ageing, and who want a modest, low-effort improvement at home.

It is not for people with dental problems, under-18s, pregnant or breastfeeding people, or anyone whose visible teeth are mostly crowns or veneers.

Why Laughland appeals

A brighter smile is one of the most popular cosmetic wishes, and in-office whitening is expensive. A kit for $39.99 that promises fast results without pain, endorsed by a dentist, with friendly branding and press badges, is appealing. The phone-powered mouthpiece is clever and convenient.

The appeal of a routine

A six-day course with short sessions feels manageable, and a visible change within a week is motivating. Many people also like the idea of a ritual: settling down in the evening with the glowing mouthpiece while scrolling or watching TV. That ease is part of why tray-and-light kits have become popular, even though the gel does the real work.

A typical week

Each evening, you brush, dry your teeth with a tissue, put a thin line of gel in the tray, slip in the mouthpiece and plug it into your phone. You scroll for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove it, rinse and avoid coffee or red wine for a while. By the end of the week your teeth look noticeably lighter if you started with everyday staining. NewMouth's testers describe some drooling at first and getting used to it by day three.

Who gets the most value

People with yellowish teeth from coffee or tea and no dental work on their front teeth get the most value.

Who gets the least

People with grey or brown stains from medication, fluorosis or old injuries, people with lots of front-tooth dental work, and people expecting dramatic Hollywood-white results get the least.

What it will not do

It will not whiten crowns, veneers, fillings or bonding, fix uneven colour from dental work, remove tartar, or treat sensitivity, decay or gum disease.

As a gift

Whitening kits are a common gift, but because teeth and gum health vary, they are better bought by the person using them after checking with their dentist.

Coffee and tea drinkers

People who drink several cups of coffee or tea a day are among the most likely to see a visible change from home whitening, because their staining is mostly extrinsic. They are also the most likely to see it return, so a maintenance plan matters.

Smokers

Tobacco stains respond to whitening, but smoking quickly restains teeth and harms gums. Whitening can be part of a fresh start for people quitting.

Older adults

Teeth darken naturally with age as enamel thins. Home whitening can help, but receding gums and exposed roots are more common with age and can be sensitive to peroxide. A dental check first is especially important.

People preparing for an event

Weddings and interviews are common reasons to whiten. Start at least two to three weeks before, so any sensitivity settles and you can judge the result. Do not start new whitening the day before.

  • Adults with mild to moderate yellowing or surface stains from coffee, tea or wine
  • People who want a cheaper alternative to in-office whitening and accept a gentler result
  • Anyone who found strips messy and wants a tray-style kit

Who should skip it

  • Anyone with untreated cavities, gum disease, cracked teeth or exposed roots; see a dentist first
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding people and under-18s, for whom whitening is generally not advised
  • People whose front teeth are mainly crowns, veneers or bonding, which will not whiten
  • Anyone with grey or deep intrinsic stains, which respond poorly to home kits

NewMouth's review quotes a customer who says they were added to a subscription without consent, and notes that cancelling requires logging in or emailing at least three days before the next shipment. The offer page's bundles are one-off kits, but checkout pages sometimes include subscription options.

What this means for you: read every checkbox at checkout, and check your order confirmation for any recurring charge.

Is it good value?

At $6.66 per treatment for the starter kit, Laughland is in line with many at-home kits and far cheaper than in-office whitening. Whether it is good value depends on whether a modest result meets your expectations.

Cost over a year

If you whiten with a starter kit every two to three months, as the FAQ suggests for maintenance, a year could mean four to six kits, or two larger kits. At offer prices, that is roughly $140 to $240 a year. Dentist take-home trays have a higher upfront cost but cheaper gel refills, which can make them competitive for long-term users.

Who makes it

Laughland is based in California, according to the page. The page names Dr. Peter TJ Kwon, DDS, as the formulator. Laughland has been covered by outlets including theSkimm and Bustle, and the page shows Forbes Vetted and Women's Health award badges, which we did not independently verify.

Personalized formulas

Coverage of Laughland describes a quiz on its own website that matches customers to one of many formulas, and NewMouth lists formulas with different peroxide strengths. The offer page does not mention a quiz and does not say which formula is sent. That makes it worth asking support before ordering if you have sensitive teeth or want a specific strength.

How well does Laughland whiten?

Laughland gives a modest, visible lift for mild to moderate stains. NewMouth's testers, using a colorimeter and the VITA shade guide over six days with the 8% formula, measured an average improvement of about 2 VITA shade steps, with sensitivity scores of 0 to 2 out of 10 and no major gum irritation. That is well short of the page's guaranteed "7+ shades", and research suggests the blue light adds little.

Before and after photos of a woman's smile from the Laughland offer page
The brand's before-and-after photos. Image: Laughland

Nobody on our team has used Laughland, so this section is based on the page, independent testing by NewMouth, dental guidance and research on whitening lights.

What independent testing found

NewMouth's testers used a colorimeter and the VITA shade guide over six days with the 8% formula. They measured an average improvement of about 2 VITA shade steps, with sensitivity scores of 0 to 2 out of 10 and no major gum irritation, and described a visible improvement for mild to moderate stains. That is a real, useful result, and well short of "7+ shades".

What "shades" means

Shade guides arrange tooth colours from lightest to darkest. Depending on the guide and how steps are counted, a "shade" claim can be calculated in different ways, which is why brands' numbers often look larger than dentists' measurements. A 2-step change on the VITA guide is a noticeable lift.

What "74% increase in brightness" might mean

The page says trial participants reported a 74% average increase in brightness. Without a description of how brightness was scored, the figure is hard to interpret. It may be a self-rated score, which is very different from a measured colour change. Independent colorimeter measurements, like NewMouth's, are more meaningful.

The company trial

The page cites a clinical trial with a 100% success rate, a 74% average increase in brightness and 0% sensitivity increase. Coverage of the trial describes 34 participants reporting whiter-looking teeth after six days. That is a small trial with self-reported outcomes, run for the brand, and not a peer-reviewed study we could find.

The LED light

Research summaries of whitening light studies conclude that lights do not consistently improve the effect of peroxide gels and can increase sensitivity, especially with high-strength gels. There may be a small immediate effect with low-strength gels. In practice, the gel does the whitening; the light is mainly a convenience and marketing feature.

Whitening lights first appeared in dental offices with high-strength gels, where they were marketed as accelerating the process. Studies since have been mixed, with many finding little extra benefit. Home kits adopted blue LEDs partly because they look high-tech and make the routine feel clinical. If a kit works for you, it is most likely because of the gel and consistent use.

Regulation of whitening products

In the US, there is no fixed legal limit on peroxide in consumer whitening products, and the American Dental Association runs a voluntary Seal of Acceptance programme that some whitening products carry. NewMouth notes that Laughland does not have the ADA Seal.

In the EU and UK, products with more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide may only be used under dental supervision, and up to 6% only by or under dentists, which is why kits sold in Europe often use peroxide-free formulas. Laughland's formulas, as listed by NewMouth, would not be sold over the counter in the EU or UK at those strengths.

Sensitivity

Hydrogen peroxide can cause temporary tooth sensitivity and gum irritation in some people. Laughland's moderate peroxide strengths and short sessions should keep this low for most, as NewMouth found. "Zero sensitivity for everyone" is not realistic.

How long results last

The FAQ says results last months depending on habits, and suggests re-whitening every 2 to 3 months. The page claims up to a full year. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking bring stains back faster.

Gum and soft tissue irritation

Peroxide can whiten or irritate the gums if gel overflows the tray. The white patches usually fade within hours, but repeated irritation is uncomfortable. NewMouth's testers reported no major gum irritation with careful use, which comes down to using a thin line of gel and wiping away any excess.

Results on different starting shades

People starting with yellowish teeth tend to see the most obvious change. People who already have fairly white teeth see a smaller difference, because there is less stain to remove. Greyish teeth change least.

What owners say about using it

The page shows four testimonials describing yellow teeth becoming much whiter after six treatments, no pain, a better experience than strips that hurt, and comfort even with a small mouth. Press reviews from theSkimm and Bustle are positive. NewMouth highlights subscription complaints.

Reading the testimonials

The testimonials are short and positive. One owner says strips caused excruciating pain and Laughland did not, which is a useful comparison but only one person's experience. Another says they saw two shades of improvement after the first day, which fits NewMouth's measured results more closely than the headline seven shades.

Reading the press coverage

theSkimm's writer describes years of use without sensitivity, and Bustle's coverage describes a personalized experience. Press reviews are often written with free samples and affiliate links, so they are positive by nature. NewMouth's measurements and its quotes from unhappy customers give a more balanced picture.

Are Laughland's claims true?

Laughland's core promise of gentle at-home whitening is supported by independent testing, but its headline claims are not. "7+ shades whiter in 6 days, guaranteed" compares with about 2 VITA steps in NewMouth's tests. "100% success" and "zero sensitivity" come from a small company trial with self-reported results. Research suggests the LED light adds little to peroxide, and the ingredient wording is muddled.

"7+ shades whiter in 6 days, guaranteed"

Not supported by independent testing, which found about 2 VITA steps.

"Clinically proven, 100% success rate, 74% increase in whiteness"

From a small company trial with self-reported results.

"Zero pain or sensitivity"

Low for many, but not zero for everyone.

"The only whitening kit with a 100% success rate"

Unverifiable and overstated.

"Dentist-formulated"

The page names a dentist; we did not verify the relationship.

"FDA registered and CE certified"

FDA registration of a facility or product listing is not FDA approval of effectiveness.

"LED curing light catalyses the molecules"

Research does not show consistent benefit from lights.

"Sodium hydroxide soothes gums" and "clean, natural ingredients"

Sodium hydroxide is an alkali used to adjust pH; describing it as soothing and the formula as natural is misleading.

"Results last up to a full year"

The FAQ itself suggests re-whitening every 2 to 3 months.

Is Laughland better than whitening strips or dentist whitening?

Laughland gives results similar to many tray-and-gel kits and whitening strips at comparable strengths, and some people find its mouthpiece less messy than strips. Dentist take-home trays cost more but use custom-fitted trays and prescribed gels after a check-up, giving more reliable, supervised results. In-office whitening is the fastest option. A professional cleaning alone can remove surface stains and is worth doing first.

Laughland vs whitening strips

Strips are widely sold and well studied. Some people find strips messy or painful, as one testimonial says; others find them easy. Results are often similar to tray-and-gel kits at similar strengths.

Laughland vs dentist take-home trays

Dentists can make custom-fitted trays and prescribe carbamide or hydrogen peroxide gels suited to your teeth, and check for problems first. This costs more but gives more reliable, supervised results.

Laughland vs in-office whitening

In-office whitening uses much stronger gels under supervision, with gum protection. It is the fastest way to a big change, at a much higher price.

Laughland vs charcoal and natural remedies

Charcoal powders, oil pulling and strawberries are popular online. There is little evidence that they whiten beyond removing surface stains, and abrasive powders can wear enamel. A peroxide kit used as directed is more likely to work.

Laughland vs a professional cleaning

Many stains are on the surface and come off with a scale and polish. A cleaning may be all you need, and a dentist can check your teeth before you whiten.

Is Laughland legit, and what should you check before buying?

Laughland is a real California brand whose kit produced visible whitening in NewMouth's independent tests, though we found no Trustpilot profile. Before buying, see a dentist if you have untreated decay, cracks or gum disease, remember that crowns, veneers and fillings will not whiten, and check the checkout carefully, because reviewers report being added to subscriptions they did not expect. Ask which peroxide formula you will receive.

See a dentist first

Whitening teeth with untreated decay, cracks or gum disease can cause pain and problems.

What to do: have a check-up first, especially if you have not seen a dentist for a while. The American Dental Association's whitening guidance recommends talking to your dentist before whitening.

Dental work

Crowns, veneers and fillings will not whiten.

What to do: if you have visible dental work, whitening may leave it looking darker than surrounding teeth. Ask your dentist.

Sensitivity

Peroxide can cause temporary sensitivity.

What to do: use a sensitivity toothpaste for a couple of weeks beforehand, follow the timing exactly, and stop if teeth or gums hurt.

Who should not whiten

Whitening is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for children and teenagers.

What to do: wait, and ask your dentist.

Checkout and subscriptions

Reviewers report unexpected subscriptions.

What to do: read checkout options carefully and check your confirmation for recurring charges.

Expiry and storage

Peroxide gels weaken over time, especially in heat.

What to do: check the expiry date on arrival, store gels somewhere cool and use them within the recommended period.

Dentist-supervised options

If you want stronger results, or have sensitive teeth, a dentist can offer supervised options.

What to do: ask about take-home trays with carbamide peroxide, which are often gentler for sensitive teeth and can be topped up cheaply.

Know your formula

The offer page does not state the peroxide percentage.

What to do: ask support which formula and strength you will receive, especially if you have sensitive teeth.

Measuring your results honestly

Before-and-after photos can mislead, because lighting and camera settings change colour.

What to do: take a photo in the same spot, same light and same phone settings before and after, and hold a white sheet of paper next to your face for reference. Or ask your dentist to note your shade at a check-up.

International orders

Peroxide strengths allowed for home use vary by country.

What to do: if you live outside the US, check your local rules before ordering, and ask whether a peroxide-free formula is available.

How to buy Laughland the smart way

  1. Check your teeth and gums are healthy, then order from the Laughland order page (opens Laughland in a new tab).
  2. Start with the 6-treatment kit to see how your teeth respond.
  3. Read every checkbox at checkout and avoid subscriptions you do not want.
  4. Check the order confirmation for recurring charges.

What do owners say, and how did we score Laughland?

Laughland scores 5.6 out of 10: claim accuracy 0.7, build durability 1.2, price competitiveness 1.3, usability 1.4 and owner satisfaction 1.0, each out of 2. NewMouth's testers found visible whitening with low sensitivity but quote subscription complaints, and theSkimm's writer describes years of use without sensitivity. The page shows four testimonials, and we found no Trustpilot profile on 4 October 2026.

Reviews on the page

The page claims 200,000 happy smiles and shows four testimonials: yellow teeth becoming whiter after six treatments, no pain, better than strips, and comfort with a small mouth.

Independent reviews

NewMouth's review found visible improvement of about 2 VITA steps with low sensitivity, and quotes subscription complaints. theSkimm's writer describes using it for years without sensitivity. We found no Trustpilot profile for laughland.com on 4 October 2026.

What we would test with Laughland in hand

If we test it ourselves, we will measure shade change with a shade guide and colorimeter over six days with and without the light, record sensitivity, and check the checkout for subscription options. We will update this review with the results.

How we scored Laughland

Every score on the site follows the five criteria on our how we test page.

What we did, and did not, do

We read the offer page and FAQ, NewMouth's review, press coverage, research summaries on whitening lights and the ADA's whitening guidance, all on 4 October 2026. Nobody on our team has used Laughland, and no figures here come from our own testing.

How to use Laughland for the best results

Have a dental check-up first if you are due one. Brush and gently dry your teeth, apply a thin line of gel into the tray without overfilling, insert the mouthpiece and wipe any gel off your gums. Plug it into your phone for the time in the instructions, do the six sessions on consecutive days, and avoid coffee, tea and red wine during the course.

  1. Have a dental check-up and cleaning first if you are due one.
  2. Brush, then gently dry your teeth with a tissue.
  3. Apply a thin line of gel into the tray; do not overfill.
  4. Insert the mouthpiece and wipe away any gel on your gums.
  5. Plug it in and keep it in for the time in the instructions.
  6. Remove, rinse your mouth and the tray, and avoid staining food and drink for a while.
  7. Repeat daily for the six-day course.

Getting the most from six days

Do the sessions on consecutive days as directed, brush before each one, and avoid coffee, tea and red wine during the course if you can. Small habits like these make more difference to the final shade than the light.

Avoiding gum irritation

Excess gel on gums causes most irritation. Use less gel, wipe away any that escapes, and rinse well afterwards.

Keeping results

Rinse with water after coffee, tea and red wine, use a straw for iced drinks, and keep up regular dental cleanings. Re-whiten every few months as the FAQ suggests.

Planning your six days

Pick a time you can sit quietly for 15 to 20 minutes, such as after brushing in the evening. Avoid whitening just before meals with strongly coloured food. Keep the kit by your toothbrush as a reminder.

Whitening and diet during the course

During the six days, favour pale foods and drinks where you can: water, milk, white fish, chicken, rice and pasta in light sauces. Avoid curry, berries, soy sauce, coffee, tea, cola and red wine for a few hours after each session. You do not need to be strict, but it helps. Brushing gently after strongly coloured meals, and rinsing with water when you cannot brush, also reduces new staining while the course is underway.

Once the six days are over, these habits help the new shade last longer between top-ups, which saves money on refill kits over the course of a year and keeps your smile looking bright, fresh and even.

If you miss a day

Carry on the next day. Missing a session slows progress slightly but does not undo it. Finish all six treatments before judging the result.

Combining with a sensitivity toothpaste

Toothpastes with potassium nitrate or stannous fluoride can reduce sensitivity. Using one for two weeks before and during whitening is a common dentist tip.

Cleaning the mouthpiece

Rinse the tray with cool water after each use and let it air dry. Do not use hot water, which can warp it, or harsh cleaners. Keep the electronics dry.

Storing the gel

Keep gels cool and out of sunlight, as peroxide breaks down in heat. Do not use gel past its expiry date.

What else do people ask about at-home teeth whitening?

Most questions are about safety and keeping results. For healthy adult teeth, peroxide whitening used as directed is widely considered safe and is not generally thought to damage enamel, with temporary sensitivity the most common side effect. Check with your dentist first. To prevent new stains, rinse with water after coffee, tea and wine, brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and avoid smoking.

Is at-home whitening safe?

For healthy adult teeth, peroxide whitening used as directed is widely considered safe, with temporary sensitivity the most common side effect. Check with your dentist first.

Does whitening damage enamel?

Used as directed, peroxide whitening is not generally considered to damage enamel. Overuse and strong gels increase sensitivity and irritation.

What is the best way to prevent new stains?

Rinse with water after coffee, tea and wine, brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, avoid smoking and keep up professional cleanings. Drinking iced coffee through a straw reduces contact with the front teeth.

Can I eat or drink straight after whitening?

Many dentists suggest avoiding strongly coloured food and drinks for a few hours after whitening, when teeth may pick up stains more easily.

How often can I whiten?

Follow the kit's guidance. Laughland's FAQ suggests every 2 to 3 months for maintenance.

Do LED whitening kits work better?

Research suggests the light adds little to peroxide whitening, so the gel's strength and contact time matter most.

Why are my teeth sensitive after whitening?

Peroxide can temporarily affect the nerve inside the tooth. It usually passes within a day or two.

Can I use Laughland if I have sensitive teeth?

NewMouth lists a peroxide-free formula for sensitive teeth. Using a sensitivity toothpaste for two weeks before and during whitening, and shortening sessions, can help. Stop if sensitivity becomes painful.

Does whitening work on fillings?

No. Fillings, crowns and veneers keep their colour. You may need them replaced to match newly whitened teeth.

Can I whiten with braces?

Not usefully, because brackets block the gel. Wait until braces come off.

Does whitening work on grey teeth?

Grey or blue-grey discolouration, often from medication or injury, responds poorly to home whitening. Ask your dentist.

Is Laughland worth it?

For healthy teeth with everyday staining, the starter kit is a reasonable, gentle way to get a visible lift. Expect a modest change rather than seven shades, ignore the light hype, and watch for subscriptions at checkout.

How long should each session last?

Follow the instructions for your formula. Independent testing used about 10 to 20 minutes. Longer is not better if it causes sensitivity.

Is Laughland vegan?

The page does not say. Ask support if you need to avoid animal-derived ingredients.

Will my teeth be uniformly white?

Not always. White spots, older fillings and areas near the gumline can whiten differently. Uneven results often even out over the course; if not, ask your dentist.

Can whitening make white spots worse?

White spots from early enamel changes can look more obvious for a few days after whitening, then blend in. If they bother you, a dentist can treat them separately.

Does Laughland work for men?

Yes. Whitening works the same way regardless of gender. Coffee drinkers and smokers often see the clearest change.

Can I use Laughland if I wear a retainer?

Remove the retainer during whitening. If you have a fixed wire retainer behind your teeth, the gel can still reach the front surfaces.

How do I know if I am getting real results?

Compare photos taken in the same light, or ask your dentist to check your shade. Your perception can change day to day, so measure rather than guess.

Should I whiten before or after dental work?

Whiten first, wait a couple of weeks for the colour to settle, then have new fillings or crowns matched to your new shade. Dental work does not change colour afterwards.

Can I share the kit?

No. Each person should use their own mouthpiece for hygiene, and gel is measured for six treatments for one person.

Frequently asked questions

What is Laughland?

Laughland is an at-home teeth whitening kit from a California brand. It combines a hydrogen peroxide gel with a blue LED mouthpiece powered by your phone, used for a short session daily for six days. Independent testers found a modest, visible improvement for mild to moderate stains.

How much does Laughland cost?

On 4 October 2026 the offer page listed a 6-treatment starter kit at $39.99, a 12-treatment premium kit at $69.99 and a 24-treatment deluxe kit at $119.99, with free shipping on the larger kits. Check the checkout for subscription options, because reviewers report unexpected subscriptions.

How strong is Laughland's peroxide?

The offer page does not state a percentage. NewMouth's review lists Laughland formulas with 8% and 11% hydrogen peroxide and a peroxide-free option. Ask which formula you will receive. Products above 0.1% hydrogen peroxide may only be used under dental supervision in the EU and UK.

Does Laughland really whiten 7 shades?

The page guarantees 7 or more shades. NewMouth's testers measured an average improvement of about 2 VITA shade steps after six days. Results depend on your starting colour and type of stains. A 2-step change is still a noticeable lift.

Does Laughland cause sensitivity?

The page says zero sensitivity based on a company trial. Independent testers reported low sensitivity scores. Peroxide whitening can cause temporary sensitivity in some people; stop if it becomes painful. Using a sensitivity toothpaste during the course and wiping excess gel off your gums can help.

Does the blue LED light help?

The brand says it speeds up the gel. Research on whitening lights suggests they add little to the effect of peroxide and may increase sensitivity, particularly with stronger gels. NewMouth's testers still measured visible results with the kit as supplied.

Can Laughland whiten crowns or veneers?

No. The FAQ says veneers, caps, implants, bonding and bridges are not designed to whiten. Whitening natural teeth around them can create a mismatch. If you have dental work on visible teeth, ask your dentist before whitening so the shades still match.

How long do results last?

The FAQ says months, depending on diet and brushing, and suggests re-whitening every 2 to 3 months. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking bring stains back faster. Rinsing with water after dark drinks and brushing twice daily help the new shade last longer.
