Smart Home

Smart bulbs, doorbells, plugs and sensors live or die on their apps and their subscriptions. We look at what works without an account, what stops working if the company shuts its servers, how much of the advertised feature set sits behind a monthly fee, and how the hardware holds up outdoors or on a dimmer switch. A product only scores well here if it is still useful on day 400, not just on day one.
