Neoprene anti-snore chin strap

Quick answer

Only if you snore with your mouth open and have ruled out sleep apnoea, and even then a cheaper strap does the same. Snore Strap is a neoprene chin strap that holds your mouth closed so you breathe through your nose, and for a mouth-breathing snorer it is a simple thing to try.

Our verdict

Only if you snore with your mouth open and have ruled out sleep apnoea, and even then a cheaper strap does the same. Snore Strap is a neoprene chin strap that holds your mouth closed so you breathe through your nose, and for a mouth-breathing snorer it is a simple thing to try. But a 2014 sleep study found a chin strap alone did not improve snoring, the "jaw dislocation" claim has no support, and $49 is a lot for a strap of this kind. Snore Strap scores 3.7 out of 10, held back by weak evidence and price.

The short version

  • What it is: a black and blue neoprene strap that goes under the chin and over the head to keep the mouth closed during sleep.
  • Price: $49 for one on 6 October 2026, with a five-pack for $135 flagged as the best seller.
  • Best trait: simple, drug-free and easy to try.
  • Biggest drawback: chin straps alone did not improve snoring in a sleep study, and the price is high.
  • Our score: 3.7 out of 10.

Pros & cons

A chin strap is one of the simplest snoring aids there is. Its strengths are simplicity and comfort. Its weaknesses are evidence and value, plus a medical claim about the jaw that it cannot back up.

What we like

  • Simple, drug-free and nothing goes in your mouth or nose
  • Soft neoprene with an adjustable fastening
  • May help people who snore only with their mouth open
  • Some CPAP users wear chin straps to stop air escaping through the mouth
  • Easy to try for a few nights

What we don't

  • A 2014 sleep study found a chin strap alone did not improve snoring or sleep apnoea
  • 'Supports with jaw dislocation problem' is a medical claim with no evidence on the page
  • At $49, it costs several times more than similar neoprene chin straps
  • Hypoallergenic treatment and extra jaw support are sold as add-ons
  • Can feel hot, and may be uncomfortable for people with a blocked nose
  • Return postage to an overseas seller is yours to pay

How it works

Snore Strap is a band of soft neoprene with a wide cradle for the chin and two straps that go up past the ears and over the top of the head, held by a hook-and-loop fastening. When it is on, it holds the lower jaw up so the mouth stays closed. The idea is that you then breathe through your nose, and snoring caused by an open mouth, where the jaw drops and the tongue falls back, eases.

The strap worn while sleeping. Image: Snore Strap
  1. Fit it under your chin

Step 1: Place the wide part of the strap under your chin and bring the straps up and over the top of your head, with your ears through the openings.

  2. Adjust the tension

Step 2: Tighten the fastening so your mouth stays gently closed. It should be snug, not tight enough to clench your teeth.

  3. Breathe through your nose

Step 3: With your mouth held closed, you breathe through your nose, which can reduce snoring that comes from mouth breathing.

The page title lists "stop snoring, natural snoring stopper, non-invasive snore stopper, anti snoring aid". The six bullets promise a comfortable, effective way to stop snoring, better sleep for you and your partner, waking refreshed without fatigue, easy daily use, support with jaw dislocation problems and safe, high-quality materials. It gives no sizes, material details, care instructions or evidence.

Who it might help

Snoring happens when tissues in the throat, mouth or nose vibrate. If your snoring stops when your mouth is closed, for example when a partner nudges your jaw up, a chin strap might help. If you snore with your mouth shut, the noise comes from somewhere a strap cannot reach.

What it cannot do

A chin strap does not open a blocked nose, does not hold the airway open the way a mouthpiece that moves the jaw forward does, and does not treat sleep apnoea. If your nose is blocked, holding the mouth closed can make breathing harder.

Who it's for

Snore Strap could suit a person whose snoring is clearly linked to sleeping with the mouth open, who has no signs of sleep apnoea and a clear nose, and who wants something simple to try. CPAP users whose clinic suggests a chin strap to stop mouth leaks are another group, though that is for the clinic to decide.

  • People whose partner says they snore only with their mouth open
  • CPAP users whose clinic has suggested a chin strap to stop mouth leaks
  • Anyone who wants a cheap, simple thing to try after ruling out sleep apnoea

Mouth breathers

If you wake with a dry mouth and your partner says you snore with your mouth open, a strap is a reasonable experiment. Record a few nights of snoring with a free app first, then a few nights with the strap, and compare.

CPAP users

People on CPAP with a nasal mask sometimes lose air through the mouth, which dries the mouth and reduces the treatment's effect. A chin strap can help in that situation. Ask your sleep clinic, which may suggest a different mask instead.

Partners of snorers

Partners often buy snoring aids. A strap only helps if the snorer agrees to wear it and if the snoring is mouth-related. Earplugs for the partner, which the NHS also suggests, help on every night regardless.

Travellers

A strap packs flat and weighs almost nothing. If you snore more when tired or after a long flight, it is easy to take along.

People with beards

A thick beard can make the strap slip and feel scratchy against neoprene. Some bearded users find fabric straps more comfortable. Adjust the fit so the chin cradle sits under the beard, not on it.

Older adults

Snoring often gets worse with age as throat muscles relax. Sleep apnoea also becomes more common, which makes a check with a doctor more important before relying on any gadget.

Who should skip it

Skip Snore Strap if you have any sign of sleep apnoea, a blocked nose, jaw pain or jaw locking, or if you want the snoring aid with the best evidence.

  • Anyone with signs of sleep apnoea: pauses in breathing, gasping or heavy daytime sleepiness
  • People with a blocked nose, who need to breathe through the mouth
  • Anyone with jaw pain, jaw locking or dislocation, who needs a dentist or doctor
  • Buyers who want the option with the best evidence for snoring

Do chin straps like Snore Strap actually stop snoring?

The best evidence says chin straps alone do not. A 2014 study in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine tested a chinstrap on 26 adults with sleep apnoea during sleep studies and concluded that a chinstrap alone is not an effective treatment: it did not improve sleep-disordered breathing and was ineffective in improving snoring. Some mouth breathers may still notice a difference, but expect modest results at best.

What the study found

The 2014 study by Bhat and colleagues, published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, used a split-night sleep study: patients wore only a chinstrap for the first part of the night, then had CPAP. The authors concluded that a chinstrap alone did not improve breathing during sleep, including in REM sleep or on the back, and did not improve snoring.

What this means for you: a chin strap is a low-cost experiment, not a solution with evidence behind it.

Why it might help some people

Closing the mouth encourages nose breathing and stops the jaw falling open, which can reduce one type of snoring. People differ, and some report quieter nights. The study involved people with sleep apnoea, so results may differ in simple snorers, but the evidence still does not support strong claims.

"Wake up refreshed without fatigue"

Waking tired can have many causes, including sleep apnoea, poor sleep habits, stress and illness. A chin strap is not shown to fix any of them. If you are often exhausted despite a full night in bed, see a doctor.

"Supports with jaw dislocation problem"

This is a medical claim about the temporomandibular joint, where the jaw meets the skull. Jaw locking or dislocation needs assessment by a dentist or doctor. The page offers no evidence that a snoring strap helps, and the $9 "extra anti jaw dislocation" add-on adds reinforcement with no explanation of what it does.

Different kinds of snorers

Mouth snorers, nose snorers, back sleepers and people with sleep apnoea all snore for different reasons. A simple test: try to make a snoring noise with your mouth closed. If you cannot, your snoring may be mouth-related, and a strap is worth a try. If you can, the noise is coming from further back, where a strap will not help.

Placebo nights

Snoring varies from night to night. A quiet night after a new gadget can be chance, especially after a sober, well-rested day. Recording several nights with and without the strap is the only fair test.

What the NHS suggests

The NHS snoring page lists self-help steps: lose weight if overweight, sleep on your side, avoid smoking and too much alcohol, and do not use sleeping pills. It mentions devices such as mandibular advancement devices, chin straps and nasal dilators among options, and says to see a GP if you have daytime sleepiness, breathing that stops and starts, or gasping.

How much does Snore Strap cost, and what do the add-ons add?

On 6 October 2026, one Snore Strap cost $49, with the five-pack at $135 flagged as the best seller. The checkout offered an antiperspirant, anti-allergy hypoallergenic treatment for $4, extra jaw support for $9, a SenseSleep pillow for $39 and a 3-year warranty for $9. Neoprene chin straps of this design are widely sold for much less.

Prices are in US dollars as listed on 6 October 2026. One strap is enough to test. You can check today's packages on the Snore Strap order page (opens G Com Pte Ltd in a new tab).

Hypoallergenic treatment

For $4, the strap gets an "antiperspirant" and "anti-allergy hypoallergenic" treatment against dust mites and skin irritation. The image shows two green badges for anti-bacterial and anti-dust mite. If you react to neoprene, a fabric strap or a different approach may suit you better than a treated one.

Extra jaw support

For $9, "extra anti jaw dislocation" adds reinforcement. The image shows the strap on its own, black with blue edging and two ear openings. There is no description of how it differs.

The SenseSleep pillow

For $39, shown as reduced from $99, the checkout adds a SenseSleep pillow, a mesh-covered adjustable pillow. Our SenseSleep review found its height layers, pillowcase and anti-allergy treatment sold as add-ons and no foam certification named, and scored it 3.7. A side-sleeping pillow can help positional snoring; this one is not the obvious choice.

Warranty

The 3-year warranty costs $9. The seller's terms already cover defective goods for two years once you have a returns number. A neoprene strap rarely fails in a way a warranty would cover.

The "regular price"

Add-ons are shown against crossed-out prices, with a countdown timer on the page. We found no evidence that Snore Strap sells at a higher regular price. Black neoprene chin straps with blue piping are sold by many sellers.

Is Snore Strap better than a mouthpiece or other snoring aids?

No: a mandibular advancement mouthpiece has the best evidence of the devices sold to the public, and simple lifestyle changes come first. A chin strap is cheaper and less intrusive than a mouthpiece, which is its one advantage. For nose-related snoring, a nasal dilator or treating congestion helps more than a strap.

Snore Strap vs SnoreRX

Our SnoreRX review covers an FDA-cleared mouthpiece that moves the lower jaw forward to keep the airway open. It takes getting used to and can cause jaw ache at first, but it is the clearest case where a rival wins on evidence.

Snore Strap vs SleepLab

Our SleepLab review covers a chin EMS device from the same checkout at $149. Both work at the chin, and neither has good evidence. The strap is far cheaper and has no electronics.

Snore Strap vs a nasal clip

Our SilentSnore review covers a nasal dilator for nose-related snoring. If your nose is blocked, a strap that closes the mouth can make things worse; opening the nose is the better first step.

Snore Strap vs side sleeping

If you snore mainly on your back, a pillow behind you or a positional aid can help. That costs little and has a clear rationale. Our guide to the best sleep products ranks the sleep products that scored best.

Is Snore Strap legit, and what should you check before buying?

Snore Strap is a real product from a named seller, and a strap should arrive if you order. Before buying, rule out sleep apnoea, make sure your nose is clear, ignore the jaw dislocation claim, switch from the five-pack, skip the pillow and note the card statement name.

Rule out sleep apnoea

What to do: if you or a partner notice pauses in breathing, gasping or choking, or you are very sleepy in the day, see a doctor before trying any snoring aid. The NHS says sleep apnoea can be serious if not treated.

Check your nose

What to do: if you often have a blocked nose, treat that first. Do not wear a strap that keeps your mouth closed when you cannot breathe easily through your nose.

Check the selected bundle

The five-pack for $135 is flagged as the best seller in the page code. What to do: change the order to one strap before you enter your details.

Card statement name and memberships

The charge appears as Matrixfze. Pages on this checkout have also carried text for a "Gadget Discount Club" membership that is free for 30 days and then billed. What to do: note the statement name, and read every checkbox and post-payment page.

Refunds and returns

The page code offers a 30-day guarantee for a full refund or replacement, less shipping and handling. The terms we recorded on 4 October 2026 focus on defective goods, which can be returned within two years once you have a returns number, with return postage at your cost. A worn strap may be hard to return for hygiene reasons.

Delivery and support

The seller ships from overseas and gives no delivery estimate. What to do: save your order email, and if nothing arrives within three weeks, ask support for tracking.

How to buy Snore Strap the smart way

  1. Rule out sleep apnoea and a blocked nose.
  2. Open the Snore Strap order page (opens G Com Pte Ltd in a new tab) and select your country.
  3. Change the five-pack to one strap.
  4. Skip the pillow and jaw add-ons.
  5. Note the card statement name, Matrixfze, and save your order email.
  6. Record your snoring for a week before and after.

What owners say

We found no Trustpilot profile for the gadgetxaura.com store and no retailer reviews for Snore Strap by that name. Owners of similar neoprene chin straps on large retail sites report mixed results: some mouth breathers say snoring is quieter, others say it slips off in the night, feels hot or does nothing.

What we did, and did not, do

Nobody on our team has used Snore Strap. We read the offer page our link opens and its page code on 6 October 2026, along with the 2014 chinstrap study, the NHS snoring page and the pages that rank for Snore Strap. The refund and returns terms are as we recorded them from the site's terms page on 4 October 2026.

How to use Snore Strap for the best results

Wear Snore Strap only with a clear nose, adjust it so your mouth stays gently closed without clenching, and judge it over a week of recorded nights. Combine it with side sleeping and cutting evening alcohol. Wash it regularly, and stop if you find breathing harder or wake with jaw ache.

  1. Check your nose is clear. Treat congestion first.
  2. Fit it snugly. Mouth gently closed, teeth not clenched.
  3. Keep ears comfortable. Ears go through the openings, straps above them.
  4. Sleep on your side. It helps more than any strap for many snorers.
  5. Skip evening alcohol. Alcohol relaxes the throat and worsens snoring.
  6. Record a week. Compare with a week without the strap.
  7. Stop if it hurts. Jaw ache or difficulty breathing means take it off.

Washing it

Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, rinse and air dry. Avoid the tumble dryer, which damages neoprene and the fastening.

If it slips off

Adjust the top strap so it sits on the crown of your head, not the back. Some people find it stays better with hair tied back.

If it feels hot

Neoprene holds heat. A cooler bedroom helps. Fabric chin straps are another option if neoprene feels too warm.

Pairing it with a mouthpiece

Some people use a chin strap with a mouthpiece so the mouth stays closed over it. If you try this, check with your dentist that the combination is comfortable and does not strain your jaw.

When to stop

If snoring is no quieter after a week or two, the strap is not the answer for you. Try a different approach or talk to a doctor or dentist about a mouthpiece.

What else do people ask about chin straps?

Most questions are about mouth taping, sleep apnoea and comfort. Mouth taping is a popular alternative with limited evidence and some risks, chin straps do not treat sleep apnoea, and comfort depends on fit and a clear nose. For most snorers, side sleeping and less alcohol are the first things to try. Browse our sleep product reviews for more.

Is mouth taping better than a chin strap?

Both aim to keep the mouth closed, and evidence for both is limited. Tape can irritate lips and skin and is unsafe with a blocked nose. Ask a doctor before trying either if you have breathing problems.

Can a chin strap treat sleep apnoea?

No. The 2014 study found a chinstrap alone did not improve sleep-disordered breathing. Sleep apnoea needs medical assessment and treatment.

Can I wear it with glasses or a CPAP mask?

You will need to take glasses off for sleep anyway. With a CPAP mask, ask your clinic how to wear a strap with your mask type.

Does it fit everyone?

The page lists no sizes. Adjustable straps fit most adult heads, but very large or small heads may find it slips or pinches.

Frequently asked questions

Does Snore Strap work?

It may help a little if you snore only with your mouth open, but evidence for chin straps alone is poor. A 2014 study in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found a chinstrap alone did not improve sleep-disordered breathing or snoring in 26 adults. A fitted mouthpiece has better evidence.

Can a chin strap help jaw dislocation?

The page says it supports jaw dislocation problems, but gives no evidence. Jaw locking or dislocation is a medical issue for a dentist or doctor, who may suggest specific splints or treatment. Do not rely on a snoring strap for it.

How much does Snore Strap cost?

On 6 October 2026, the offer page listed one Snore Strap for $49, two for $69, three (two plus one free) for $98, four for $123 and five (three plus two free) for $135, with the five-pack flagged as the best seller. Add-ons cost $4 to $39, and a 3-year warranty costs $9.

Are chin straps safe?

For most people, yes, if your nose is clear. If you cannot breathe easily through your nose, holding your mouth closed can make breathing harder. Do not use a chin strap if you have sleep apnoea that has not been assessed, a blocked nose or are unwell with a cold.

Should I use a chin strap with CPAP?

Some people on CPAP use a chin strap to stop air escaping through the mouth with a nasal mask. That is a decision for your sleep clinic, which may suggest a full face mask instead. A chin strap is not a substitute for CPAP.

What works better than a chin strap for snoring?

The NHS suggests losing excess weight, sleeping on your side, cutting alcohol and stopping smoking. Mandibular advancement devices, which hold the jaw forward, have the best evidence of devices sold to the public. See a doctor if snoring comes with pauses or gasping.

Is Snore Strap legit?

It is a real product sold by G Com Pte Ltd, which lists a Singapore address, email and phone number. The concerns are the weak evidence for chin straps, the jaw dislocation claim, a high price for a simple strap, add-ons for basic features and return postage at your cost.
